2016 Election Thread

I'm not trying to do the now popular pro/con college argument, but while they may be overpriced, I think the students can still get plenty out of school if that's what they focus on.

I didn't my first time through, but that was self-induced. Athletes are probably coach and booster-induced.

Sure, there are things you can take away.  But I'd argue that's a pretty low bar to clear.

The audio is terrible. That guy--as we all have known for awhile--probably belongs in prison. And yet.

Anyway, my prediction of 347 electoral votes looks ok, but with Arizona now . . .

It should end him.  It won't, I'm (sadly) wondering if it will even move the needle.

Yep. I'm with you in that level of cynicism. And I'll go one further... there will be those who applaud him.

I'm almost considering watching Hannity just to marvel at the spin job.

What he was saying was absolutely disgusting and beyond deplorable.  It's terrible and should be condemned by all.  Have I heard other men and women talk like that before?  Yes, (mostly men) but I have never been comfortable around people who think that little of other people.  Or speak that poorly of others.

I hope Hillary goes for the kill at the debate.  I still fear we're a terrorist attack or (as we've learned today) an aggressive move by a foreign government, away from this menace being the President.

I didn't listen to the full recording

You need to. The part you mentioned was the least of it; we already knew he's a serial cheater in his marriages. In the rest of it, he brags in part about serial sexual assault, AKA groping.

Don't get me started on higher education. Or the NCAA.

I am listening.

Since there seems an interest, please take it to a new thread.

This has always been the Trump we have known. Sure this video is solid gold proof of his misogyny and objectivity towards women, but there has been many other things he has said and done that is proof solid that he is the same human being I mentioned above.

I agree with Levi that it probably won't make a difference.

Saying that, I hope it does and he is cremated in the fire he started.

As crazy as that sounds, I wonder how far it will get.  I think I'd like to see it happen, it may destroy the Republican party in a more decisive way than Trump losing.

I have trouble playing out any end game without reverting to that they are just stuck with Trump, and that's it.  I think logistically, it would be impossible to get another name on the ballot; however, the Party could support a Write in candidate.  Though wouldn't it be simpler to just throw the weight of the Party behind Gary Johnson, if he'd accept it?

That's pretty much my line of thinking.

If he does drop out of the race, who do they get to run? Are they allowed to change the ballot? Or is that a state by state issue? And will this be good or bad for Clinton?

Kind of feel bad for that soap opera actress who unwittingly was at least one of the subjects of the video. Thought she was doing press for her show, ended up being a sexualized political pawn.

Also Billy Bush is a steaming turd too. I'm glad this makes NBC look bad, they are clearly pushing for Trump. Likely for no other reason than a train wreck is good for the news industry.

It would all but guarantee Clinton's win.  Ballot access is state by state, I have to imagine there would be issues getting something done this late in the game.

I think it's a pipedream for anyone to mount any sort of challenge.  That opportunity passed.

I would love to hear the discussions of inner circle gop leaders right now. There is a whole month to go before election day. Things could still get worse.

I make a concentrated effort to not revel in the misfortune of others but I'm waiving that rule for the next month.

I'd like to ... but this is just too pathetic. And that people are still justifying and defending this behavior ... of someone they want to lead this country and think is capable. Someone at work told me they think Clinton is a whore and that Chelsea isn't Bill's daughter and that he can't possibly have her lead our country because she wouldn't be a good moral leader and role model for his children (who are grown, btw), so he's voting for Trump. Yeah. Seriously. While I'd love to revel in it come November, and hope Clinton does win, the fact that this was even a contest is pathetic. I get why some don't want to vote for Clinton, I do ... but this? Disgusting. And to even put them on similar or equal stages? I'm just disgusted with too many people. It's sad and pathetic.

Yeah ... I don't know the rules state by state on when they have to put someone on a ballot. Heck, voting has already begun in Chicago, and I'm sure absentee ballots are already being sent. But the GOP leadership could decide to throw their support to Gary Johnson. But then I just think that guarantees Clinton even more because, well, while many would jump ship, many will stay with Trump and that would further split the party. What a mess.

My only hope about this is that it drags the Senate over as well. Maybe a few governorships.

Well ... it could have a coat tail effect ... if the opponents of whomever has endorsed/supported Trump can keep them connected and hammer away at it, but who knows.

Well, Fox News was trying to make the leaked excerpts of Hillary's speeches to Wall Street types the equivalent of Trump's taped lecherism (probably not a word). Well, there has never been a serious candidate for president that is the equivalent of Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton is not my ideal candidate, but she is light years more qualified than the joker the Republicans nominated.

I hope the voters punish the entire Republican party for nominating and supporting this man. Wow, just wow.

I read some comments on a fox news Facebook article a friend liked. It's stunning how many people try to turn this around on Clinton. Then, attempt to justify the comments as something everybody says. Well, it's one thing to talk about women sexually, what trump did is a completely different level. Indefensible.

I bet The Donald doesn't complain about his mic not being hot in THIS debate.

Karma came at him like a *****.
