Predict your 2015 Twins All-star(s)

Who do you think will make an all star appearance for the Twins in 2015?

My first thought actually was Arcia breaking out and beating a weak Twins field (someone from the team has to go...) Then I thought maybe Dozier as the new face of the franchise, but I decided that the 2nd base competition around the league is strong. Finally, My mind settled on Perkins as the most likely all star pick.

What say you? Who will represent the Twins or will more than one go?

I'm going to have to go with Hughes.  Possibly Perkins as well.  If Mauer gets back to his career norms for the first half of the season, he'll have a shot too, but 1B has some pretty strong competition too.

I think Dozier will get some votes overall, but I think he'll just miss out.

Brian "Don't call me B-Dink" Dozier makes the club, beating out some big name big money 2nd basemen.

Just kidding.

Joe Mauer returns to the fall classic, and not just as the home town ambassador.

I'm pulling for Dozier to make an All-Star appearance.  Ten more singles in the first half and he would have made it last year.  He easily been the Twins' best position player for the duration of the last two years, so he should have the honor of representing them in the All-Star game, as well as being voted team MVP.

You have really high hopes :) although he may make the AS game.

SS Danny Santana - SS is wide open with Jeter retiring

RHP Glen Perkins - He's one of the best at what he does in the AL, plus lefty ... Expect it to contiue

I'll add ...

Arcia gets selected for the HR Derby and then pulls a Cespedes and wins it without being an All-Star.

Thats why I picked Santana also, if he plays SS then his biggest competition will be Hardy Bal, Bogarets Bos, Ramirez CHW, Escobar KC, Aybar Angels, Escobar TB, Andrus Tex, Reyes Tor.  Not exactly a list of a bunch of ALL Stars, ha ha but 2 or 3 of them will make the All Star team.  That is a group of guys that are all good, but if Santana were able to reproduce his production from last season over the first half I could easily see him getting into the top 2 or 3 in voting amongst those guys.

On the Flip side Mauer is going up against the likes of  Abreu CHW, Cabrera Det, V Mart Det, Hosmer KC, Pujols Angels, Teixeira NYY, Fielder Tex.  Those are just the big names, there are a few others that out produced Mauer big time last year too.

Mike Pelfrey, Aaron Hicks and Eduardo Escobar.

Aaron Hicks (AAA All Star)??  Escobar (International All Star)??  Pelfrey (Andersen Field Slow Pitch Softball All Star)???

Ha ha

Yeah, the competition is important to consider. SS is weaker this year, and I have to believe that division rivals Kansas City and Chicago will get a little bump to their rosters because of the Royals' post-season and the Chi-Sox off-season.

Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval, Russell Martin all moved from the NL to the AL, and the National league's biggest new name was Yasmany Tomas (other guys went from one NL team to another) or Jon Lester.

I think a middle infielder has the best chance of making the All-Star team from the Twins. I do think that voters and coaches subconsciously (or consciously) include the previous year when they are picking the team, so that's in Dozier and Santana's favor as well.

Trevor Plouffe will not only be selected to the All-Star Game - he will be voted in as a starter at 3B.

Fans of MLB will be hard pressed not to to vote for him as his 20HRs and .950OPS on June 1st are just too impressive to pass up. ;)

Halsey, I thought for sure you would concur with Plouffe prediction! Happy New Year to all!

Stringer, no need to bait Halsey. I like to be optimistic - but it is probable I'll go down in flames with that prediction... what the heck, I like the feeling of burning. :) Happy New Year to you also and everyone else!
