---------------------------

Okay, Brian ... what have you got?

-------------------------------------------

Love Is... What I Got... I said remember that... Love is... What I got.

Things to Think About:

1. The Bench -- The Lineup looks like the same guys we were rolling with before roster expansion... Not that there is anything wrong with that... Which in this context is much different then the Seinfeld line. I just figured that we might see someone pop into the lineup. A Hicks or a someone.

2. Chicago White Sox -- Jeez... It feels like someone is throwing mud on me when I just got clean from the last time. It seems like we have been playing the White Sox and Royals at high frequency and I had to take a shower after the last time we played the White Sox. Now they are again infecting our beautiful stadium and getting all over us.

3. AL Central last place battle -- The White Sox and Twins are in a battle for last place. Just two games seperate them. This always conflicts me... I don't want the White Sox to have a better record than the Twins and I don't want the White Sox to draft before the Twins. The only way I can solve this is hope for playoff Twins or Twins that finish below the White Sox. Providing that the Twins beat the White Sox senseless in their game matchups while finishing below the White Sox. I don't think that's asking too much. So go Twins for this series and then... umm... go ahead and finish below them... It's Ok.

4. Beckham and Dunn -- Both of these long time White Sox are gone and this makes the White Sox lineup a little different. Beckham is now playing for the Angels and Dunn for the A's. Michael Taylor is now playing LF while Viciedo moves from LF to DH to replace Dunn and something called Carlos Sanchez moves into 2B... at least for tonight. I know very little about Taylor and Sanchez but they are now card carrying members of the White Sox so it has taken me about a second to hate them.

5. The Internet -- I was talking with a Police Detective today. I asked him how they go about finding missing people and he mentioned to me that nowadays internet usage is a very effective way to find missing people or other clues in all kinds of investigations. I was thinking... I sure hope I don't turn up missing because of where my internet usage will lead them.

I'm cheering for the Miracle to win ... will be at the game tomorrow night at JetBlue (aka Fenway South) since they are continuing with the Hammond Stadium 'remodel.'

Mildly surprised not to see Hicks and Pinto in there someplace. It's not like the Sox are going for a playoff spot either.

As an out-of-town Twins fan I watch all the games on mlb.com.  Except when they play Chicago, since that's my home market.  That means that I get to watch the Twins on my TV (very good, compared to my tablet), but I also have to either turn the sound off or listen to Hawk Harrelson, The Biggest Homer and Greatest Doofus of All Time.  It's a tough call.

Another option is to watch the TV with the sound off, and listen to Gladden on the radio via tablet, but the synchronization is never as good as it could be (plus Danny isn't exactly Vin Scully).

So I reach out to you, my brethren and sistren- what is the best option?  What would you do, the four of you who still follow the Twins?

Mute the TV and listen to the White Sox radio guys while watching. Is it still 600am?

Edit: 670AM

Chi - Free tickets for the Miracle at Subway.

It's thunder, lightning and rain up here on the north shore of Superior.

Yeah, already got them then drove out to JetBlue today to upgrade them for the handicap seating for my Dad. (The upgrade cost $2 a ticket, so that was the cost of my playoff tickets.)

OK, that's not a bad idea, but I forgot to mention that I heard all of Ed Farmer's stories five times in his first two years, and now I find him completely annoying.  He's not as bad as Hawk, so your suggestion is probably the right one, but I just can't stand him.  Personal bias, not rational thought.

I would love to hear Steve Stone and Darin Jackson call a game, but the Powers That Be have determined that the two good broadcasters have to be split up.  I don't understand Reinsdorf's perspective, that's for sure.

The White Sox had a TV rating of something like 0.4 a couple of Saturdays ago, while the Cubs pulled a 2.9.  And Harrelson is still the lead TV guy.  I don't get it.

Mute the TV and use the Twins Daily Game Thread to get the expert analysis.

Part 2 of the Houdini mini-series is on the History Channel tonight. I can watch that and check in on you baseball hobos for; I was going to say information about the game but then remembered where I was. ;)

I routinely mute Dick and Bert, why wouldn't you mute the Hawk?

Silence is golden.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'd consider it high praise. It's the baseball mimes one has to hide the children from.

So tonight is expert analysis night?

I'll do my best...

That would be a great game thread experiment. An occasional expert analysis night. Why not tonight?

Here's the format... To differentiate an expert analysis post from the others... Start any expert analysis post with this:

Well Dick...

And then follow with your expert analysis.

Such as

Well Dick... Milone is trying to set up Viciedo by throwing him multiple off speed pitches. He should now be able to blow his 84 MPH fastball by him.

I actually have hope for Milone to get his first hit tonight.

I also hope the Twins continue scoring 5+ Runs per game.  :)

Yes, I was hoping to see some minor leaguers start tonight ...

The Lynx have a win-or-go-home game tonight. I'll be switching over, because every minute counts in a playoff game. Phoenix is awfully good though.

So, between Farmer, Hawk, Gladden, dickbert, what would you choose?

Posted

Well Dick if we can string together a few wins and get back to .500 anything can happen.

Maybe we should voluntarily separate into "Well Dick" and "Well Hawk" camps, and leave the actual analysis in the former camp per RB's proposal.  I went back and changed mine.

Well, Dick....if Escobar doesn't get two hits tonight, he won't get an at-bat for a week.  Esco was o-fer the road trip.  Gardy is going with 'his guys" today, but Hicks and Pinto are going to get at-bats and Escobar is a likely victim.  Zuke will get more time off with four catchers available.
