  1. Looking at Fangraphs, WAR/wRC+, 2017 and 2018 were very good seasons for Hicks, and that’s pretty much it. Also, looks like the Twins sold high, not low as they traded him after his 2 WAR 2015 season.
  2. @Cody Christieyou missed THE pivotal moment in Trevor Plouffe’s media career! January 2020 he was guest at the Twins Daily Winter Meltdown with some guy named Kent Hrbek that jump started his podcasting career im sure it was Gleeman and The Geek and not Jomboy that launched the empire :)
  3. when assessing relievers, I like WPA, Win Probability Added. There was the article about Jax having some bad luck, that seems to jive and Jax would likely be in that 5 range, and Brock Stewart probably wouldn’t be number 1, probably 4 so.. Duran Lopez Thielbar Stewart Jax De Leon Headrick Sands Winder Rodriguez SWR Alcala Pagan Moran Passes the sniff test
  4. Agreed with your desire for fairness to Pagan, disagree with your assessment. Pagan has a -.27 WPA. I would call that reasonably effective in very low leverage. The problem is, he’s a veteran reliever, Rocco needs the minor league/quad A development pipeline to be those reasonably effective low leverage relievers to try to turn them into effective high leverage relievers. Sands, Winder, Deleon they should be the low leverage guys who become high leverage some day. Pagan needs to succeed under pressure or get DFA’d, but they don’t have anyone chomping at the bit to take his place.
  5. Mahle is already on the 60. Gordon could go on the 60 too.
  6. Feel terrible for Nicky G! It has been such a long road to health for him, and now a fracture!
  7. tip you’re waiters I’m here all week
  8. manager A .484 Gardy manager B .558 Rocco manager C .471 Molly manager D .478 TK i remember two World Series and 10 years of God-Awful baseball in the TK and Gardy years. There were some magical years in there, don’t get me wrong, but there were just as many terrible ones too.
  9. I was around for TK and Gardy. career winning percentages manager A .484 manager B .558 manager C .471 manager D .478 pick one
  10. What constitutes “going far in the post season”? Currently they’re first in the ALC, very good possibility of making the post season. Doesn’t making the post season and being on an 88 win pace make them at least decent?
  11. A week later, Twins are ranked 25th, no longer in the cellar, and are hitting .231 by wRC+ they are ranked 16. Amazing what a 30 run weekend can do for you! Farmer is back, Miranda demoted, looking forward to Kepler and Lewis returning. this team will likely not be an offensive juggernaut, but also still shows some promise for improvement
  12. When Lewis is ready, one of Solano, Castro or Gordon should go. I’d DFA Solano at that point, but I think there’s an open roster spot and Castro has an option. I wouldn’t DFA any of those 3 until I had to. Injuries happen.
  13. Developing talent and trading it, is way better than not developing talent and wasting it
  14. This is where I’m at too. Miranda isn’t going to bust his slump riding the pine. Julien isn’t going to develop into a major leaguer playing one game a week. while Donnie Barrels isn’t living up to the moniker, and Willie Castro is only fielding. Having those two on the bench means developing the future talent. Royce is on the return trail, Kepler as well. This too shall pass.
  15. Boy did I whiff! AK having a GAME! go Twins!
  16. Did I miss Saturday entirely, or does this lineup look a bit getaway-ish?
  17. Which is why I want to stream. Paying $1000 to $1200 per year for turning on the TV 80 times doesn’t work for me, you can buy a single full season ticket for $800. streamers on a per month basis aren’t any cheaper, but no contract, so Fubo is $600 per year if you start it and end it w/ the baseball season.
