That’s my frustration, the bullpen has to be invested in. Either development or trade, or free agency…. They need 3 better relievers just to stop the bleeding. after trading away 5 relievers at the deadline, we watched DFA fodder in Aug 2025 rather than developing marginal starters getting converted into short inning relievers. then in 2026 we watched DFA fodder again until the team traded for established relievers, but again, only Morris and Adams, when they still needed 3 more arms in the pen and who knows what the heck they were doing with Rojas?! and so here we are again… do they have bigger fish to fry? Absolutely! 4/5 of the rotation hits free agency in a year and who knows what they’ll get from Ober, Lopez and Ryan… 1B is a mess, DH might be Buck, and 2nd is currently owned by a guy breaking out at 30 years old… let alone C being manned by a 32 year old unraveling before us and a guy DFAd and passed through waivers 3 times in a year. All more important than bullpen.

It’s your prerogative to like, or dislike a manager, and I accept that. I push back on the notion of assuming his intentions. The Woonsocket Rocket was a defensive specialist who’s bat developed into major league quality. why would a player who spent his minor league and major league career as a defensive specialist not value defense as a manager? a manager can only manage the players in front of him. He never had the fortitude to reshuffle his entire infield to optimize the scrubs he did have, like Shelty, but also he was never afforded a roster that Shelty had either.

This is exactly my thoughts. It’s near impossible to extract decisions from situations, I’d like to see Baldelli’s management style under different circumstances.

Doesn’t the lockout “lockout all members of the union”? as a collective bargaining strategy I would think divide and conquer would be very advantageous but on the other hand, the point of the lockout is to control when the work stoppage happens. if there isn’t a full work stoppage, the union could still strike.

Can they? Yup Should they? Its debatable because the FO painted themselves into a corner with their dithering. What a waste of two seasons in 2025 and 2026!

Disagree on opening the season w/ a 6 man rotation, unless the season is delayed. If it starts on time, they usually have enough weather buffer in the schedule to not need a 5th starter until 2 weeks into the season. Everything else, I 100% agree with. Zebby wasn’t on the opening day roster and was 4th in innings pitched. when the 10th most innings came from a bad LOOGY that can’t be one out guy in the current rule book… a team needs to plan for the unexpected

Unless something big happens, the lineup won’t hit well enough to overcome a Caratini/Rortvedt blackhole. This team was average having Jeffers’ stick. this team’s stick schtick is kinda sick -
If they aren’t traded by the arb tender deadline, they won’t be traded after. There’s a lockout two weeks later that best case ends shortly before opening day. Trade or non-tender

Agreed with you on wishing Rocco well. I do too, and hope he catches on as an MLB manager again soon. Also agreed, he was handed a poor roster in 2025 that got worse as the season went on. while I thought Rocco was on balance a good manager for the Twins, I also feel like it was time to move on from him. I don’t have confidence that Rocco would have had the guts to rearrange his entire position player fielding 2 months in, but Shelton did exactly that and got more out of this cruddy team than Rocco would have. They still weren’t good enough, but marginally better. good for you, sticking to your guns. Courage will take you further in life than waffling.

Would Drew Cavanaugh plus Yunior Marte be enough? Too much? I don’t think SF would want to part with two top 50 prospects, I don’t see why SF would make this trade, but this is what I think of.

Or 1 almost ready starter and 1 high upside prospect. SF isn’t trading away almost ready. They aren’t 1 starter away from a long post season run.

you are correct, Falvey didn’t bring Cleveland’s success with him to Minnesota, how you got there is flawed. Your examples are 1) 81 game winner and 85 game winner of divisions pre-playoff format would have made the post season. 2) the Twins in 87 and Angels in 06 were before the current wildcard format. I don’t think the wildcard format matters to the outcomes, just the additional tv revenue. Since Falvey left Cleveland has been first in the division 70% of the time. Wildcard format never changed that goalpost. Be better than the rest of the Division gives you a chip and a chair every post season. That should be Zoll’s Goals.
