Really there's nobody available if Joe Ryan can't return. They picked up some ex Pirate guy today but he's an arm in name only.

We are his fourth team this year, he actually pitched in 47 games for SD but looks like most likely a multi inning reliever.

When I heard that we had a "Dean" entering the Twins, my thoughts turned to a 20-game winner from decades ago who I saw pitch in my very first MLB game. The old gents will remember him. He had an ERA of around 2.9 during his 11-year career. May the Dean from 50 years ago rub off on the Dean pitching today.   Dean Chance Photos and Premium High Res Pictures - Getty Images

From the things could always be worse department.. Sox on 35th reports

The White Sox announced Saturday that the first overall pick will be shut down for the remainder of the season. Roch Cholowsky has been dealing with an undisclosed right wrist injury, and with the regular season ending on September 6, the team has opted to play it safe rather than rush him back.

Any  final record  predictions guys ?    thinking  82-80  will make it   can the Twins  win 19  more ?   7  teams  is crazy ,  if any team can put together  a  5-6 game  winning streak ,  i bet under 74 wins to star the year  and ill be glad to lose it  if we make it in

I'll  guess a Chance and say this guy was a very good pitcher but not so good of a hitter.I think he is the pitcher all hitting pitchers get compared to.

As of now, Lackey has had the most contributions of the top 3 picks. Emerson debuted in A-ball on August 19 and is 0 for 8. All that to say that it is way too early to start to worry about Lackey's slow start.

I predict 80-82 finishing 1 game out of the wild card (Toronto) and 4.0 out of the division (White Sox). I hope I'm wrong.

I was looking at the St. Paul Saints lineup today, and I think I would rather have any of their top 6 guys than Alex Jackson on the roster right now. (Jenkins, Ross, Wallner, E-Rod, Sabato, Mendez)

wALLNER as a catcher WOW!

Tristian Gray would like his name added to this list. He just homered again for St. Paul. (Walker Jenkins is 1 for 1 with a walk and a stolen base.)
