Church of Kreidler Verified Member Posted August 13 Posted August 13 As a side note, as someone very passionate about soil health, the Field of Dreams becoming a regular thing is so bad for the soil... Please people, remember to rotate your crops. It would be funny to see them come out of field of soybeans, though. Craig Arko, Western SD Fan and Saxophone Joe 2 1
S Bart Verified Member Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I was surprised to learn that the Twins have an overall better BA and OPS than Philly. It will be nice to see Arraez again...but not his 313. BA Patzky 1

I could see MLB paying the farmer a lease or a special easement to ensure that corn will be planted every year they intend on having the game. I agree, rotating is the best. If MLB does that, that's guaranteed money vs trying to guess what the price will be at harvest time. Church of Kreidler 1

S Bart Verified Member Posted August 13 Posted August 13 They mentioned that 25 Hall of Famers will be present. Those who played for the Twins..possibilities? Mauer (already there), Blyleven, Molitor, Kaat, Oliva, Ortiz, Jack Morris, Winfield, Carew (doubtful)...trying to guess other possibilities. Others?

S Bart Verified Member Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Thunderstorms in the forecast for Friday,,,better get that game in today, I read a report of 80 mph winds in eastern Iowa. I bet that would make the ball carry if it were blowing in the right direction. Church of Kreidler 1

I was looking through a list of HOF to see who else could be there as well. I would expect Schmidt. Thome has connections to both orgs. Maybe Jimmie Rollins who wants to boost his HOF candidacy? I would guess they called everyone who is able to travel to see who all could show up, regardless of whether they were part of either organization. There are likely players we will be missing since we don't connect them to either org.

Western SD Fan Verified Member Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Bruce Dreckman, the Iowa native, will be behind the dish tonight. Looks like the Twins will really be missing ABS today since it appears that he is about a standard deviation worse than average on many key stats. https://umpscorecards.com/data/single-umpire/Bruce Dreckman EDIT: I would love to see a Kyle Schwarber crash out in this spot like we saw with him and Angel Hernandez, but it likely won't happen.

The Phillies' gray road uniforms are inspired by the same unis the team wore from 1939-41 while the Twins’ home uniforms are inspired by their original jerseys from the 1960s. Too bad the Twins didn’t design a special vintage uniform, or use something converted to Twins that their franchise wore when they were Wahington. 1961 era uniform doesn’t do the trick to capture the spirit of the movie, especially with the Phillies wearing older ones that do.
