I viewed a lineup card for today which listed Gasper as DH and batting 9th. If true... I know that he is bashed beyond belief with negative postings. .but a DH with .130 BA average is pretty low....and I a DH batting 9th...may be even a rarer .

I don't get why he's on the roster at this point. I truly don't.

Because the Twins are so bereft of C options one can squint enough to put forth the opinion he's currently the best choice. He's certainly no worse than 2nd best.

They aren't going to go with 1 C on the team, and losing 1 C to the IL (who himself is one of the worst hitters in MLB) put them here. Not losing 3 Catchers.  Not 2. One.

More fine GM'ing evidenced.

Now the DH nonsense, you can place that on the huge pile of crap at Rocco's doorstep. He (or his equivalent) has to be rostered. He doesn't have to be written into the lineup when not actually catching.

Theo Tollefson:

The #MNTwins are sending Simeon Woods Richardson on a rehab assignment to Triple-A St. Paul.

SWR last pitched on July 28 and had been dealing with stomach issues that had him miss his start during the last road trip.

I really would like to go back to the system where the starter wasn't considered the "bulk pitcher". Yes, an occasional game where there's a schedule quirk or somebody has to get skipped is acceptable, but 40% of the time is too much.

yep. The bullpen is constantly stressed and shorthanded when 2 out of 5 games played is basically a bullpen day.

I feel sorry for Gasper. He has played a long time in the minors, done well the last couple of years, but is overmatched in the big leagues.

Perhaps Rocco making him the DH is a passive agressive F.U. to Falvey for having to roster him.

Loved the sell the team chants last night. Looks like security had them out fast.

Not all stadiums would kick out fans doing chants

I have never seen a Dh bat 9th...

My fear is this is the new normal moving forward with Falvey. Unless he back tracks on the system wide experiment. We aren’t training anyone to be an MLB starter. Not allowing them to work out of a jam, or build stamina to last 5-6 innings. It feels so rigid with a one size fits all approach.

Didn't Raya pitch six innings last night?

I suppose there’s always 1 example Mike. If we look system wide each day, the vast majority of them are pitching 3-4 innings

I'm not sure that's true of the top guys near AAA, who have been healthy. I know we've read that, but when I look at the reports, I don't see that for the guys we believe in. I could be wrong.... But I don't think Abel, Bradley, Raya lately, Morris are doing that.

Look, I want them fired, but I'm not sure all the narrative here is accurate.

Honestly, with the cast of characters remaining in the bullpen, they really haven't been that shorthanded that often. There is a dearth of major league talent--five guys over 30 (Hatch, Tonkin, Ramirez, Kriske and Urena) that weren't on major league rosters at some point this year. Two other guys groomed as bulk pitchers and Sands, Funderburk and Topa as traditional relievers.

It would appear that within a month SWR, Pablo and Festa could return and there are two trade acquisitions sitting in St. Paul who could/should get major league innings. Lots of possibilities, but really messy. Plus it is obvious that winning games this year isn't the top priority.

Agree. I've got serious complaints about his offenses, roster construction, trades, promotions and his choice in manager. Until this year, the MLB rotation has been exceptionally healthy and productive. It's easily his strongest area, so I'm not scratching the itch to complain about that part.

The back end of the bullpen was pretty good too. My on the field complaints about the Twins field staff and front office are almost exclusively about position players.

I think the vast majority agree...

My biggest gripe is if we are going younger and using 2025 as tryouts, why do we have 35 year old journeymen relievers on this team? Lets call up some young arms and let them get their feet wet.  Now that we are at August 15th, maybe we should call up some younger guys and they can maintain their rookie status for next year.

Don't question Rocco's decision
