Brandon Verified Member Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 Buxton has 20 HRs and 17 SB can he turn it up a little and be a 40/40 guy? glunn 1
Linus Verified Member Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 Nope but 30/30 should be doable. Thats a helluva an achievement. Pretty small number in that club. Richie the Rally Goat, DJL44, Doctor Wu and 2 others 5

I don’t believe there has been a 30/30 guy in franchise history. Given good health in the second half, Buxton could make it. DJL44, Doctor Wu, Linus and 1 other 4
Brandon Verified Member Posted July 11, 2025 Author Posted July 11, 2025 35/35 is a real possibility if healthy but that is not as cool as the round numbers. glunn 1

Puck probably did it and I bet Tony O did it when he was younger. I’m sure these are wrong - memories fade. As a kid I thought Bobby Bonds was cool - he was in the 30/30 club a bunch of times. Buck is a lot like him other than the injury bug. glunn 1

I hadn't even thought of such a thing happening, but sure, it's within the realm of possibility. But as Linus suggested, a 30/30 season might be more realistic, but then that would depend up those every-worrying health issues.

I remember the young Tony O as having above-average speed, but not really a burner. Until Billy Martin got here, stolen bases were rare. Zoilo had one season with more than 20 steals ('65) and no other Twin was really close. Tovar and Carew stole lots of bases, but never got to 20 HRs. glunn 1

Bobby Bonds (father of Barry Bonds, the player who was tested more times than any MLB player ever and never tested positive) was never associated with steroids. Give a little credit to his son who either beat the system or was innocent. Perhaps Barry found something better. Also, always remember that it was Bud Selig who rewarded and thus ultimately drove the usage of steroids. Also remember that David Ortiz, who failed tests, is in the Hall of Fame. The media can be very powerful. mnfireman and Brandon 2

Brandon Verified Member Posted July 11, 2025 Author Posted July 11, 2025 If we are talking 20/20 seasons then Bader has a shot. He needs to get his steals up which he should be able to do and he needs to get those 9 HRs which might be the harder part for him.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Possible, and i'm rooting for it in a purely abstract way. But i won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen, and would rather have the team win more than they lose... in October. But i appreciate "for 40/40"
