stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 It appears that the "bulk pitcher" for the Twins will be Travis Adams. Good luck to him in his major league debut. Western SD Fan, Ottomatic1990, jorgenswest and 3 others 5 1
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Well, I was wrong. I thought the Twins would bring up Raya because he has been pitching well and he has good stuff, which is important versus MLB bats. Instead Raya pitched last night for St. Paul. Apparently, he isn't ready and the front office feels Sands and Adams are a better option at this time. Taj Bradley has had a difficult year thus far and has been a little bit of a weak link for the Rays. Bradley, however, has good stuff and could dominate any lineup in baseball when he is commanding his pitches. The Rays are a much better team but anything can happen in any game between 2 teams in baseball. The White Sox and Rockies are the only teams in baseball winning less than 40% of their games. There were 11 NFL and 7 NBA teams that won less than 40% of their games. Don't bet on baseball. Ottomatic1990 1

I typically agree, but I do think Adams is the perfect person to utilize the opener strategy. Adams has been piggy backing Raya for the Saints and has been the pitcher that typically comes in the middle of the game (5th-6th inning). He is used to warming up in the bullpen while the game is going on, unlike Festa or SWR. S Bart and Ottomatic1990 1 1
ziggy Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Looks a late start, tarp going on the infield as I type. I guess we will be reaping the rewards of the pitching pipeline today.

Maybe another 4 1/2 hour delay like last week. They did a good job of being able to predict the opening time. OvertheHill 1

I don’t fully embrace it, but admit I haven’t completely thought it through given the current roster. As a fan, I prefer roster construction with players in clear roles, positions, etc. Old school I guess and I know most teams aren’t managed that way these days.

Western SD Fan Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Obviously, I'm not at the ballpark. That shower seemed like something they could have played through. Maybe they didn't want to start the game in a rain shower? Maybe there's union rules with grounds crew that they have to pull the tarp out once during every home series?

ziggy Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Quote Maybe there's union rules with grounds crew that they have to pull the tarp out once during every home series? Naw, if it was union initiated the rule would be every game, not series. I hope we win today. Western SD Fan 1

S Bart Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 I know they are other teams in the wild card hunt, but it seems strange to see the Twins alone in 2nd place in their division considering their recent performance. T.O. and IndyTwinsFan 2

S Bart Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 I am hoping Adams performs as I saw him do in St. PAUL. His specialty was mid-relief. It would be nice to see Sands get through through the order one time. It also would be great to have the Twins score early in case the game is called due to the weather Patzky 1
