In this case, it hit the ground and then bounced off Perez and then hit Buxton.

Thanks for clarifying.

Was listening on the radio, and that was foggy enough i had riverbrian's question.

Can't say as I recall.  Entirely possible, however.

It can still be a hit by pitch if it bounces.

I went back and re-watched it, looks like it did hit Perez first. Not a HBP, not an interference for several reasons. Just the way it bounces.

Was looking unsuccessfully for the rule but it's something about passing the zone and a pitch basically becomes a loose ball, even for the split second before the catcher corrals it. HBP on a bounce only on the initial entry to the plate area (zone).

The entire infield looks like they're playing in snowboots, including Correa. The range of a piano.

Easy Chief, don't burn up two good analogies on this single dumb game.  We have plenty of more games to use them later.

Perhaps an unpopular take, but the Twins seem to be working hard. Right now the bats are just not able to score runs and the defense is about what can be expected for a team built for offense. I'm a little amazed that some folks were not able to appreciate that Simeon Woods Richardson pitched a pretty tough game. An average defense and he only gives up 2 runs. Finally, Kansas City is a pretty good team. Line up the Twins and Royals position by position and pick your team. Did you pick 2 or 3 Twins? Weight shifts to Pablo tomorrow but I'm giving SWR a big hand for tonight.

I have no beef with SWR, I do with our big money guys lagging behind their obligations

Twins just off to a miserable start. Looks like last September all over again. Only this time Correa and Buxton are nowhere to be found. Pitching is awful. A complete mess this team is. Is this who they really are?

Thanks. There wasn’t an explanation on the radio.

But shouldn't it be a dead ball once it hits Buxton's helmet??  Otherwise, couldn't a guy theoretically kick a ball to allow for a steal????  Strange play..

Kicking a ball is interference for purposefully touching the ball.  In the batters box you have some protection as you can't be expected to get out of the way of everything is such close quarters.  The ump has a pretty wide ability to infer your intent and if they think you did anything on purpose to impede a fielder or move the ball they will call it.  It's what they called on Alvarez the other day on the pop up with Jeffers.

It's also basically the same as a bunt, if it hits you in the box, no penalty.  Out of the box, no bueno.

There wasn't any argument so it must have struck Perez. I just struggle to see the contact on the Twins.TV replay.

Erceg spiked that curveball hard off the plate. His two seamer has some serious movement.

Erceg has some incredible stuff. He will be a free agent in 2030. He will be a problem for us for awhile.

SWR is a gamer. Doesn't have the most electric stuff but he knows how to pitch and he'll usually give his team a chance to win games.

Hoping the ace version of Pablo shows up tonight - but, really, it may not matter because this team isn't going to win many games with Correa and Buxton being MIA. Those two have to step up for the Twins to have a chance.
