Right-size probably means something like not projecting losses if the team doesn't advance in the playoffs. The Twins look to have made money last year based on Forbes projections so seeing them cut payroll burns, and he debacle with Diamond Sports/Bally Sports North deserves a lengthy apology and explanation to fans from ownership, along with a plan for how that can never happen again.

The Twins are still running a cumulative loss since 2019, and the fans aren't attending with various excuses, er "reasons" while the ownership still spends more on payroll than their rank in attendance.

What many Twins fans "expect" is not possible to achieve. It's a generally moving target of a $1B payroll made up of a 75 man active roster in violation of MLB rules, consisting of the top 25 free agents, 25 sure fire favorite prospects, and the 25 best players currently in the organization. Also, it requires free tickets, plus free private limo transportation to/from the games, a personal game day maid/butler (whichever you prefer) who delivers free gourmet food and beverages to wherever you're walking/sitting in the stadium. A weather control machine to make sure the game is always played under ideal weather conditions is a given. The owners should also be at every game, greeting fans on their hands and knees groveling for forgiveness for being wealthy and successful, and if that's not enough to get fans at the game, the fans at home should be able to watch the game for free with free Door Dash/Uber Eats or free food/alcohol at the bar where the game is broadcast. The Twins should also win every game by no less than 20 runs and the World Series every year. If the Pohlads are willing to do this for 10 straight years, some people on this forum MIGHT be willing to attend a game, though it's probably not enough because of how the Twins played back in the mid-90s so the ownership must still be taught a lesson.

And just to follow up. If they want more butts in the seats. Do a better job of marketing. Get a TV deal that's manageable and affordable to fans and earns Twins ownership max value. Not the we picked the best and only option available. I wasn't raised with a silver spoon mentality. And your sarcasm towards fans???

I attend 15-20 games every year in Minnesota and my wife and I schedule at least 1 road trip per year. This year it just so happened to be Cleveland series. 1 hour removed from a colonoscopy and on the road to Cleveland. What does this mean to me? And where is the PROOF that the Twins have been operating at a cumulative loss since 2019?

Just an obvious satirical response (weather control machine, etc) based on the kinds of comments I see from a lot of "fans" on this site. It's not a personal attack or challenge to you or anybody else.

Complaining about ownership from the 90s, explaining why they don't like to be at the ballpark because of x, y, z reasons from years ago, etc.

The Pohlads are not remotely close to the bottom of the barrel for MLB owners.

Is going to continue considering how many people spend $0 on the team, yet feel "entitled" to the team being run as a charity.

I think it's easy enough to put some positive spins out there most of the time, and that's their job. Take Manuel Margot.

First guy: That brings the young veteran Margot to the plate. Rocco's got him playing today against a left handed pitcher and that's been an easy call for the last several years as he's really hit lefties well over the course of his career and full seasons. This year hasn't clicked right out of the gate, but you have to believe the bat will come around, and he's certainly shown life over the past 3 games.

Other guy: Yeah, and you know, guys like Margot are under appreciated. They come in and play wherever you want them in the outfield, and that's something they need to back up Byron Buxton in center. I know a lot of fans were hoping see Taylor back this year, but between the two, Margot's been the better hitter over his career, and Taylor's had a real rough start to this season as well.

First guy: That's true! Look at Kepler last year. Sometimes things just don't go your way, but you have to believe it'll balance out over time, and Margot certainly looks like he's putting it together over these past couple games right when the Twins need it most!

Is this your job application?

You know what I or any fan spends?

So when I open up my donut shop I’ll put you down as having a standing order of a dozen raised glazed every morning even if my donuts suck?

To be fair, it's no worse than Dave St Peter's blaming the fans.

I agree.  Just struck the wrong nerve. I'm feeling much better now. Thanks

Dude, stop. You are embarrassing yourself with this over and over.

Unpunished behavior resurfaces. Truth ignored embarrasses me. And poor umpires that double down.

Did Rocco mention his 3rd base coach last night, who snuffed a rally with an absolute stinker of a send?

Did he mention his own slavish addiction to platoon deployments which had a guy currently OPSing BELOW .500 hitting THIRD?? His baseless belief that his best players can't play every day?

I posted last year Baldelli needed to go. Got some flack, but it was true then, it's true now.

Managers matter, and ours doesn't get the most from his team.

Hold-em’ Watson? I saw it as indecision and late change of mind from holding Buxton to sending him. If he had never slowed he probably would’ve scored. He seems to send slow runners and hold quick ones. Mostly holding. Royce would just run through and score last year.

Heck no! I'll let your business fold, but I won't join an internet site and post about how bad your doughnuts are every day or demand your doughnuts be free or eat them even for free. I won't be enraged if your doughnuts don't win awards or get voted the best doughnuts in the country, etc. Basically. I won't care...

Ironically, btw, I grew up on Hans' Bakery doughnuts as a kid and still believe the original recipes and ownership group were the best ever. The realtor who took it over as some reality TV game recently ran the business into the ground and sold it to Wuollett bakery, who was also just bought out by somebody else or something, but is withholding the doughnut recipes. I certainly won't go out of my way to get them today, even if they were free. If the greedy and incompetent previous owner never allows the bakery's original recipes to see the light of day or Hans' Bakery folds up forever, that'll be a bummer, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

This is why firing Rocco without firing Falvey is pointless. The manager is told who to start and which relievers will be used every day  at 2:00 by the analytics department. He is mostly just an observer.

It's the same freaking lineup tonight (Tuesday ) just shaken not stirred. No Kepler. Margot leading off. More Farmer, more Vazquez. Sighh.. inanity.

Bakeries are becoming a thing of the past. My analogy came from me skipping third hour regularly my senior year of high school to go the bakery and wolf down three raised glazed.

It seems like bakeries are blossoming a bit these days?

In any case, I do like doughnuts and it's a rarity I'm as disappointed in a raised glaze as I am the Twins' hitters.

You have no evidence of this. In fact, all the information we have says the exact opposite.  Pure sophistry.

You've got it backwards. The Twins are selling entertainment. If they're content to run a middling team out year after year, they (you) don't get to blame consumers for opting to spend their $$ on a better/different product. That's the game the Twins are in, and they're doing a **** job of playing it right now.

The value of this franchise has increased by over $1B since the Pohlad's purchased it. Obviously they're not running a charity, and there's no chance they're actually operating at a loss annually either.

If left handed starters alway need to be benched against left handed pitchers would not the opposite also be true?

Right handed batters grow up in the game batting against predominantly RH pitching - so do Left handed hitters. That’s what they are both used to seeing a huge % of the time.

It’s pretty obvious the Twins play the numbers by platooning.

The Athletic did an article with a specific Twins focus prior to the season…….it showed a history of OPS for approximately 15 LH hitting Twins across the Team’s history. Pretty sure only Carew & Mauer were above .800 OPS v. LH pitching for their careers. Kubel, as I recall, was around .760 OPS …..Hrbek was in low .700’s ………,Oliva was around .670. It was a testament that the present day platooning makes perfect sense based on hitters across time - mostly good LH hitters. The fact that Tony Oliva was arguably as good of hitter as could be found from ‘64-‘71 in the entire game and he was a .670 career OPS guy v. LH pitching was “eye opening” for me.

They showed Wallner - Larnach - Kirilloff - Julien & even Kepler - their career numbers (couple guys just 1 season) and their individual & collective performances were really poor. It’s not “the Twins” and it’s not “Baldelli’s spreadsheets” it’s history over nearly 60 years and it’s consistent. Carew & Mauer are the outliers in this instance just as they were across the board with their offensive performances through their careers.

FANS w/o data and only an opinion……Can’t keep saying “guys just need an opportunity” and they’ll improve………statistically, it doesn’t happen. I wish I knew how to access the article - it was very well done.

Players only meeting last night per ESPN. Also have Rocco for what seems like the 4th or 5th time this year come out in the media questioning the Twins' approach at the plate. I'm just dumbfounded that they haven't made a change among the trio of 'hitting coaches'.

Same hitters and same coaches that won 17 of 20………averaged 6.5 runs per game ….,…guys need to get their act together……..players play. Collectively they have sucked over the last week - that’s it!!

Kick Falvey and Rocco to the curb. Let Thad and Toby finish the year. DFA the pathetic vets (Vazquez, Margot, Farmer). Hold SOMEONE accountable for this dead@ss team.

It’s the 21st of May at 7:00 Central & they are up 6-0 after 5 innings……on the a.m. of the 13th they had just won 17 of 20, the hottest team in the game…….and everyone should get released or fired.

Hope you are self employed OR the perfect employee OR you have the most forgiving boss in the world.

Valium is still legal.
