sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Out with old, in with the new. By virtue of gettin g extra sleep during yesterday's game (and being on the east coast, and... um... just by having to get up in the morning for a parade), hopefully i'm early enough to write something interesting for a change. I know we score 4 runs in the last inning last night. Garbage time, some might call it. I know we may occasionally talk about more than we do. Trash talking probably evokes a more agressive edge to it than my casual way of putting things normally would indicate. But Denard Span, recently in the commentator's booth used to also say something about playing with a chip on one's shoulder, keeping an edge. So here's to a philosophic wet stone and maintaining that edge. Here's to Buxton being back. And the wonders one finds in the "trash" Line ups to come. Rainbows and sunshine, as they got to be somewhere, even if not in Cleveland. er... 5 minutes late... feel free to delete, if you want. glunn 1
ziggy Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Thanks SSOO, I try to stay positive but when the team plays bad defense it seems the pitching and hitting goes bad also. And they have been playing bad defense lately. Attitude is everything and hopefully the players (and fans) can get upbeat and confident so the outlook isn't so drab. Bibee is a heck of a good pitcher and since I expect the Twins to have to scratch for every hit and run they will score 7 today. I like Paddock and feel much better about the trade that brought him here. glunn 1
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Sure would be nice to win a game or something.
wabene Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Man what a mercurial year so far. The cold dark swings are unwatchable, turning into the light things get positively giddy. My enthusiasm is governed at this point. In a B Nightingale article at the Strib, he mentions Carlos Correa's idea to help umpires out. Have them wear the pitch com device. That's simply brilliant, they can set up knowing what to expect. "If they had a device where it said slider and they're anticipating the slider and they know where it has to start and land for it to be a strike, then we would get so many better calls," Correa said. "The fact that they're over there blind, it's really hard." glunn 1
Schmoeman5 Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Observed that Buxton who played the whole game yesterday is off today. The adventures of Willi Castro in cf continues. Hoping the Twins can right the floundering ship. glunn 1
wabene Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 The broadcast crew just mentioned that since, I think it was 2017, Jose Ramirez leads all of baseball with 500 extra base hits. Impressive Dave Borton 1

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Off to a flying start. Julien watches strike 1, strike 2, and strike 3 without even thinking about taking the bat off his shoulder.

I think this would be confirmation. Needs a day off after ONE day in CF? NotAboutWinning and glunn 2

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Nobody taking three pitches for strikes on this Cleveland team.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 I think Buck played consecutive games on consecutive days in center field only once or twice in April. I didn’t have the privilege of watching last night, so I have no opinion on Buxton’s health. USAFChief 1

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 You have Julien just sitting there watching pitches pound the zone. Then there's other hitters who are swinging at breaking stuff that is at least several inches off the plate.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 It's gotta be our hitting coaches in the minors that are not effective with these young guys. Twins_Fan_in_NJ 1
