The only conclusion is that this is the line up Rocco knows gives them the best chance to win tonight. He needs to be right.

I would have done it differently. Fly ball pitcher and 5 from the left side lessens the chance of groundballs to 3B. I am putting my best hitter against Flaherty at 3B. I hope Rocco did also. Fly ball pitcher and wind. I am not sure I want AK in the outfield. It seems like DH or 1B might be better fits with Martin in the outfield.

I acknowledge there is a greater chance that Martin and Miranda make a mistake. Do they also have a better chance of making something happen?

Again. Rocco needs to be right.

hitters 2-5 were all 1st round picks, if my memory is correct. that's interesting.

Something like half the 40 man were first round picks.

Rocco really got criticized last season, especially early on.  Haven't heard the same amount this year.  Have Twins fans accepted the inevitable decisions/style, or have we have just given up?

Just my opinion, but for me, the players have to perform at a competitive level for the managing to make much of a difference one way or the other.

I’m definitely not a Rocco stan, but I don’t think…just in terms of the games themselves…anyone could have managed this group to more than 7 wins at this point.

I have a feeling Billy Martin would have had a better record with the same group.

I feel the same way about 30m in payroll. These guys suck right now.

In today's game, I'm not sure Billy would hang around a game long enough to actually manage it.  He'd get tossed while exchanging the lineup cards.

Scary: the Twins weighted average age for hitters this season is the 7th OLDEST in baseball…and the oldest in the ALC.

ON the bright side: we’re near the bottom of the league (fewest) in GiDP this season. I probably put this into the category, “be careful what you wish for”, though.

Today’s players don’t even speak the same language as Billy. Hit behind the runner, sacrifice bunts, productive outs, running the bases aggressively, pitching deep into games???

He’d have assaulted half the roster by now. More than half.

I think Rocco pulling Pablo cost us a Baltimore game personally. The team also all seem to be asleep. I think it’s very debatable another manager could have 7 wins with this group.

That being said, not advocating for replacing Rocco at the moment.

Winning a 1-0 game is just as important as winning an 11-2 game and actually more important as it shows a team does not need basket full of runs to win.

Twins won a World Series without baskets full of runs.

What the Twins need is pitchers who do not make hitting a home run easy.

Yeah, 1-0 wins are definitely easy to come by and should be the strategy teams take over trying to score runs in 2024. Good call.

5 hits for the Twins today.... who's got the over and under!

Yea I’ll take the over. We got to shake this rust off

Hoping the team took a nice off day, went to the spa, did some yoga and feeling loose and ready to win a baseball game.

No they are hard to come by and show that a team is actually pretty good in some aspects.😄

Yeah…I don’t think it was the strategy back in 1991, either.

1991 Twins averaged 4.79 runs per game.

This year 3.41 so far.
Projected out, that would be about 225 fewer runs scored over the season than the ‘91 squad. Ouch.

Looks like a covid game. There's nobody there.

If I lived sixty miles closer I would probably have made an effort but alas, I do not. (Events with few spectators are often far more enjoyable.)

Now if they served quart sized hot-toddys, I might....

Minnesotans are no longer the Viking hardy population they once were.

I used to go to snowmobile races in sub-zero weather, now there are almost no snowmobile races in Minnesota any more.

I spoke too soon...my bad. There's a few hearty people starting to filter in there. God bless em...I hope we get a win for them.
