If Buxton can play, Taylor should be on the bench. Rocco hinted at possibly seeing him in CF this season. I don't know what the odds are if it actually happening obviously.

Buxton is having an awful season at the plate, hasn't been able to get healthy enough to play in the field, has a historical problem with injuries... and many are here debating who's going to get moved to St. Paul to make room for him in CF. Right now, this team is better with Buck on the IL than they are with him on the 25-man roster. Aggies7, Schmoeman5 and NotAboutWinning 3

The only question is, what then? CF or DH? Easy call. What they should have done in May, at the latest. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. If he doesn't, hope he hits. HokieRif Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Taylor goes yard in his last AB, so of course we need him to try to lay down a bunt to start the 7th...
Danchat Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Bullpen woes aside, the lineup putting up 6 on Burnes is a great result. Maybe there is hope for this lineup!

As has already been pointed out, Buxton's awful season at the plate is (at least by OPS) better than MAT's. At this point, you have to put him in CF as soon as he's activated, and if he can't handle CF, then he needs to go permanently on the shelf. chpettit19, jkcarew and Cris E 3

IaBeanCounter Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 8, 9, 1 batters due in the 7th I would go with Jax, but have Duran getting ready to come in for the 2 batter whether in the 7th or 8th. Use Duran as a fireman and expect Thielbar to pitch a clean 9th against the lower half of the order.

You said Jesse Crain is 42. Jackie Robinson's number is 42, and is not allowed to be worn by any MLB player, with the exception of Jackie Robinson Day, which is April 15. It was a torturous path, even by my Game Thread standards. USAFChief and Cris E 1 1
