I'm confused as to why this is even a debate.  Buxton is having an awful season at the plate, hasn't been able to get healthy enough to play in the field, has a historical problem with injuries... and many are here debating who's going to get moved to St. Paul to make room for him in CF.

Right now, this team is better with Buck on the IL than they are with him on the 25-man roster.

They're going to activate Buxton. That's inevitable.

The only question is, what then? CF or DH? Easy call. What they should have done in May, at the latest.

If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. If he doesn't, hope he hits.

This is exactly correct. It was always about getting him out there when the games matter. Yolo activated.

Right now, this team is better with Buck on the IL than they are with him on the 25-man roster.

As has already been pointed out, Buxton's awful season at the plate is (at least by OPS) better than MAT's.  At this point, you have to put him in CF as soon as he's activated, and if he can't handle CF, then he needs to go permanently on the shelf.

8, 9, 1 batters due in the 7th I would go with Jax, but have Duran getting ready to come in for the 2 batter whether in the 7th or 8th.  Use Duran as a fireman and expect Thielbar to pitch a clean 9th against the lower half of the order.

You said Jesse Crain is 42.  Jackie Robinson's number is 42, and is not allowed to be worn by any MLB player, with the exception of Jackie Robinson Day, which is April 15.
