I like AK at first base.

I liked AK in right field, too.  (Al Kaline)

Two instances so far where the Mariners have shown a White Sox-like aversion to having a baseball find its way into a glove.

Wallner has some real intriguing talent. There hasn't been any talk about what he is like as a teammate, but he does seem quirky. What I like about Wallner is that he seems able to make some adjustments at the plate. He drove a number of two strike pitches to the opposite field for base hits for the Saints and he hunts fastballs pretty good. His K-rate is better this year. I hope he can keep it going because the Twins could use a bopper and Wallner looks like he hangs in against left handers as well.

I'll be surprised if Gallo is on the roster after the deadline. They are giving him a shot in center, and he can't hit ....

Gallo is either a k, 420 ft over fence, or 420 ft straight up.

Are the Twins showcasing Gallo for possible trade, by batting him ninth? :)

Was just thinking about various luminaries we've had in the 9 hole over the years. Would you take Gallo or someone who couldn't dent a tin can if he barrels it?

This has to be close to the end of the Gallo experiment. A sub .570 OPS with a K% over 50% in July should mean he will no longer be with the team after the trade deadline.

Long-run scoring potential, probably not much difference.

I just look at putting a batter ninth means the odds are 8 out of 9 that he goes the plate fewer times than someone else, and with Gallo that suits me fine.

Sure hope so.

Walker Jenkins first time in MN and he's $7.122 million richer.  People gotta buy a lottery ticket for results like that.

Regarding the broadcast discussion of Kepler's facial hair: we've seen Max for many seasons now, and this is the best he can do.  :)

It's a family joke that my son, a huge baseball fan, won his school's spelling bee and then was eliminated in the final five or so in the county bee when he missed the word "alkaline." 🙁

Jenkins sounds like a pretty impressive young man. Gotta learn the media outro though. Lol

Was he on TV as well? He was just on radio for a half-inning.

As Corey said, "It's clear he's not from Watertown, S.D." Jenkins also dropped in a couple of "Yes, sir/no, sir" responses as one can easily imagine from a North Carolinian.
