Is he going to retire after this season?

What kind of prospect haul is some team going to offer at the deadline? :)

Thank god Maki didn't go out to the mound to try and slow down Seattle's momentum.

Their momentum?  You mean Gray's inability to throw strikes?

My bad, I should have said, 'Give Sonny, a break".

Sonny sure found a great time to go to pieces.  NOT.  Hope he can get out of this with no more damage.

Timing was made worse by Rocco letting the bullpen guys all keep playing Fortnite instead of having someone warmed up.

So true.

Just a terrible inning for Gray. This game isn't over, but we'll see Seattle's "A" bullpen.

And Rocco gets the assist on the last 2 runs.

Petrified to throw a strike as soon as he gives up a little hard contact. Always been his MO.

That's my take. He doesn't lose command so much as lose the courage to get people out inside the zone.

Gallo with the Adam Dunn TTO finish to his swing...

Normally I'd like to see a batter at least take a step or two toward first after contact, but I guess when you hear the ball break the sound barrier you can afford to stand and watch.

I'm guessing not a lot.  What contender really wants a guy who can go 4 or 5 innings and then completely fall apart at the blink of an eye?

Only a team that's extremely desperate, IMO.

Just left of center.

Routine fly ball, short of the warning track.

There's no way that is a hit 81 percent of the time.

Because they don’t figure pull, middle, oppo direction into the expected stats.  It’s a basic feeder stat with a gigantic hole in it. They track hit direction, so the info is there but don’t use it where it would make sense.

That’s a 1.000 BA to the pull field, 0.100 or less to center. It matters. I love analytics as much as anyone but tighten it up.  Unless someone knows why they wouldn’t use that info.

Short starters are a pretty typical thing in the playoffs, as managers usually pull their starters at the first sign of trouble in the 5th/6th innings. Gray is by far the best rental piece out there, not counting Ohtani.
