I don't think Wallner or Celestino would have caught that HR either. It was gone pretty far.

I will still take an outfielder playing the outfield.

Because Castro earned a look in ST and Celestino, based on the last two years, definitely needs MiLB work.  Giving Wallner more refinement time while seeing what Castro can provide, given he is young, is a good idea.

When we are down an OF - I want another OF to play the position!  Castro has a track record that is fine for utility, but not starting in the OF.

We have Wallner and Celestino - why is Castro in the OF?  If we have the tools, use them.

You want them just sitting around when the OFer is all healthy? Because the only reason Castro played is because Kepler was dinged up. He's also on the roster in case they need an INF....because that's what bench players are for, to fill in as needed.

That still leaves Wallner and Contreras - I like an outfielded to play the outfield.

Uh, just no to Contreras

I don't think we see him in CF at minimum until the weather turns nice. After that, I would say they play him there a time a week or so. Down the stretch if it is a close race maybe they put him out there more. But I would not be one bit surprised to find him be the DH ALL YEAR LONG either.

Guessing the front office thinks if they can get 135-140 games of Buxton as the DH with close to his defensive production out of Taylor, then it is probably better than getting 90 games out of him or not having him for a hopeful playoff series.

It's been 80+ and sunny the entire time the Twins have been in Miami. I think the weather theory has been debunked.

They've already announced that he will be tried in the outfield at the end of April.....relax.

So then his absence in the field isn't weather related. Pointing that out means I need to relax?

No.  Sorry.  Not directly at you but everyone in every game thread is bitching about Buxton.  It's already been reported that they will start to work him into the outfield toward the end of April

There is no way there was 10,000 fans there last night. ..

The old MLB trick of counting tix sold, not butts in the seats.

I lived in South Florida. It is baseball country. Huge Latin following yet this franchise can't figure out how to draw.

What a way to mess up a viable market.

I suppose they could try charging less for tickets and food...

Oh, what am I thinking??

Are people really questioning why Buxton would get a day off last night? He is still returning from a knee injury. He is still "just" DHing, so it's not like he's fully back. To have him play against the lefty on Wednesday, they chose to give him Tuesday off.

Yes, I was questioning why Buck got a day off. Thank you for answering my question.

The weather was beautiful in Miami these last 3 games.

They sat one regular that wasn't hurt.....how was it a throw away lineup?

No Buxton, Solano & Castro in the lineup against a righty... and, again, Pagan.
