I didn't read behind the STrib's paywall, but Joe's been the EVP of Brand Strategy and Growth according to the team's front-office directory page on mlb.com.  If he's in charge of the M on the new caps, I think they should have looked outside the family. ?

As vilified as the ownership of this team has been, the Twins have been consistently near the top of the spending hierarchy amongst the mid and lower revenue clubs under Jim Pohlad.

Likely nothing will change, but this kind of seems like a Dance with the Devil you Know kind of situation.

according to this, he managed Go 96.3 radio, so…. I’m leaning towards agreement

Joe will be an excellent leader for the club as he finds his own way. Very good people skills and listener. He has his own ideas on how he would like to see things done. He’s been very involved since he joined them team back in 2007. Initially you may not see much, but he is his own man.

Ok...but does he have control of the double zip-loc bag with all the cash, and is he willing to spend any of it?

Thanks Jack! We’ve seen him not being afraid to make changes with GoMedia and Bring Me The News.

Did you interact on any of the analytical side? How receptive?

Maybe Joe Pohlad, the grandson of Carl will eventually connect with legacy of Andrew Macphail to mentor his son Drew to become the GM? What a match that would be!

I doubt it will change much in the short-term, but this can't really be bad. Jim was the most uncurious, disengaged owner I've seen of any team I've followed closely. Joe will be much more actively involved and I don't see how that's a bad thing. At the very least, I think it shortens the window of how long we have to put up with Favline if they continue to flop.

Didn't talk about it in the article, but following his graduation from Boston College he worked for MLB in NYC for several years.  Don't know what he did there and not certain how long it was.  But believe it was more than an internship.  So I expect he has been in training for this role for the past 20 years.

Did I interact with Joe? Yes. I considered him a friend and a proponent of innovation overall. Which I think you have seen in other areas where he has been involved. He’s not afraid to try new things and learn from them.
