Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 7 hours in one day of having to watch this team flub it’s way around the diamond against the Yankees might be too much for me. I may have to tap out for game 2

If you honestly believe RBI is the most important statistic to measure offensive performance, then you have to believe that 2019 Eddie Rosario was a better offensive player than 2019 Mike Trout. And no, you absolutely do not need to put the ball in play with authority with RISP to get an RBI. You can hit a bases empty homer. You can hit a swinging bunt that just gets past the pitcher. You can hit a duck fart blooper that falls in between 3 fielders with 2 outs. Or heck, you can get a walk or HBP with the bases loaded, and get an RBI despite not hitting the ball at all. Think about it this way--which player did more to help his team score a run? The hitter who fought off 6 two-strike pitches to get a hustle single, then stole second base, and scored on a bloop single to right when he accurately read it would fall, or the hitter who hit the 74 MPH exit velocity blooper on an excuse-me swing? It's like thinking the fullback who scores a 1 yard TD did more than the halfback who turned a 2 yard loss into a 79 yard gain. Again, anecdotal example that proves nothing. Nobody has hit more RBIs than Mike Trout with excuse me swings and hustle singles. It nails no coffins. It actually supports my point. If you’re talking about one specific RBI, sure. But, if a guy has accumulated many RBIs, he’s going to be a good hitter. Literally almost every single time. What are you even arguing here? No person ever said Eddie Rosario is better than Mike Trout. If you have a 100 RBI year, you’re probably a good player and providing value. Don’t how how that controversial in any way. Pretty common sense.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Fulmer, big deadline acquisition
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Bases loaded walkoff walk?
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Fulmer is quite the acquisition,

LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Good thing they got Fulmer
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 This guy Guzman is trying to hit an 800 ft HR. Try making some contact my dude.
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 So much could change, but right now I don't see the Yankees winning the AL East and they could actually miss the playoffs. These are two weak teams today.

That's my point, unless you're avoiding a tag, don't slide. There's a reason sprinters don't dive at the finish line. True, but slowing down to hit the bag in stride also slows you down (adds a step/stride) it’s an instinct play i think
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Icing on the cake would be walking Ronald MFing Guzman to lose the game
garn from vancouver Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 fulmer has zero 'stuff'

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I'd have preferred Pagan. Seriously. If he's "on" he can get K's.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 He was jogging down the line hahhahaha
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I doubt Aaron Boone will appreciate that jogging effort by Guzman and he’ll be sent back to AAA tomorrow.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Guzman trotting to first
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Man that’s a bad look for one Ronald Guzman

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I would be pissed about Guzman if I were a Yankees fan, you get a shot with the majors squad and you do that with the bases loaded no out?!
KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Wtf is Guzman doing. Wtf is going on with this game? It's just brutal on both sides...

I don’t think it can be argued that it is the most important historical stat (or one of them). Not as much a predictive stat.
