I’m not opposed to the move. “Best” or better options? Outside of Duran who are you talking about that will fill the final 4 innings?

Jax will fill 1 or 2 (Smith the other if he only goes 1) and then Duran the other 2 (Duffey if he only goes 1).

At least he made contact in his last AB. Kirilloff will push Miranda more than Larnach. As long as Buxton is not playing or DHing every third day, Celestino will get plenty of PAs.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Pulling Smeltzer was the right call, he probably wasn't making it through a 3rd time through the order without giving up more run(s).

Yeah sounds like a lot of guys who are very hit or miss, hoping that they’re all “on” today. Smith has been pretty ragged the last month, Jax is blah and who knows what you’ll get with duffey. And this is all assuming Duran is his usual great self. He’s due for a stinker too

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Wow. What a play by Springer, but you cannot leave the base. Go half way if you want, but that cannot happen.
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Another base running blunder that kills a rally. Gah.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Great base running, don’t expect that from a legacy player

At some point you have to let starters pitch. It’s a 3 run game. The bullpen is going to be ravaged if we continue with this third time through stuff

rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 I'll sleep alot better tonight if those base running blunders don't come back to haunt them. ?

Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Right now with Ryan & Gray out, I consider Smeltzer as our top starter.

rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Jax comes out throwing smoke... through an inning on less than 10 pitches??

mnfireman Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Not to undermine Gordon's bad baserunning, but the xBA on the play was .970. Still have to make sure it is a base hit though....

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 Bell answered by Mr. Larnach.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 LARNACH LAUNCHED!!! On a breaking ball too. He needed that, and now the Twins can potentially avoid using Duran.
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Larnach! Glad to see him come through!

Still unacceptable on Gordon's part. Shoot, you have a chance to score from 2 on a tag with Springer hitting the wall and not having the best arm in the world.
