sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 O Buxton Where Art Thou? "Muse! Sing in me, and through me tell the story of that man skilled in the ways of contending, a wanderer, harried for years on end …" My Hair! Er, i mean... I'm awake. I got to get dressed but it is just as important to empty my pockets of random cruft so as not to get in trouble with security. I got to drop by an ATM for ticket funds, as friends got a 9 person group, then wend my way through the complexity of the Boston area subway system to the stop known as Kenmore where we are to meet by 1pm for said tickets, brave crowds and the Fenway security, and finally land in our seats (high up along the first base line, spot known as section 34. Perhaps not an odyssey of Homeric proportions, but i will see the Twins play at the end of it. And i haven't left yet, so who knows what unexpected adventures may await me? Boston apparently derives its name for St. Botolph, patron saint of boundaries and travel and trade, so on the one hand he should be rooting for me. On the other hand, i got to root against his team, so maybe not so much. There is measure in all things made. I just like mentioning this here factoid as it reminds me of the Gardenhire days: today we go to battle our Botolphs... Local weather for Today (from weather.gov) Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail. Increasing clouds, with a high near 51. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. As for likening the off season to a odyssey, i leave that exercise to the reader. Coen Brother quotes get bonus points. Lineups: Twins: 0. Bailey Ober (R) P 1. Luis Arraez (L) 2B 2. mnfireman Verified Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Technically, the Red Stockings are the original name of the Cincinnati Reds, from 1882 - 1889. The Red Sox original name is the Boston Americans, from 1901 - 1907. But all is good....
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Buxton? "Mama says he's bona fide." *1
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 What's the prediction on total Kepler, Sano, Sanchez, and Larnach strikeouts? Perhaps 10?

I guess if folk are allowed the poetic license to call them hose, i too would get some of that (and hoser has more of a Canadian vibe than i wished to invoke)
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Sonny Gray to the 10 day IL, Stashak activated.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Oh, and Happy Easter to all who so celebrate. May your ham, lamb, or Spam be perfectly prepared and served promptly among friends and fam. Mrs Chief and I will be having a smoked chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and candied baby carrots. Hoping the chicken dinner can serve as a celebration of a Twins victory as well as Easter dinner.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Celestino out of the lineup again… if he’s not going to play with Buxton out of the lineup, he should be playing everyday in AAA.

Agreed. It’s lunacy to not give him playing time, either here or there

We just did a spiral ham a couple weeks ago, so today we're going take out Asian cuisine from Bambu in Oakdale. Happy Easter to everyone out there in Twinkie-Land. Hope they win today!

The CDC still recommends three day quarantine if exposed. You're welcome.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I’m entirely over watching Max Kepler play baseball.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Yeah, it is time for a few guys to start hitting. Correa had a promising at-bat, but got called out. Just not enough hard contact.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 After a week of baseball, my expert analysis is that the Twins are under .500 because they’re not good at scoring runs.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 That juiced ball in 2019 has caused a huge long-term problem for this Twins franchise.

I wonder if the option limits are in play here, particularly if Buxton could still end up on the IL. This reminds me a bit of last year, in that every time I thought Celestino was certain to be sent to St. Paul, someone got hurt and he stayed on the active roster for 57 days.
