whosafraidofluigirussolo Verified Member Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Random tidbit from another opening weekend series: In each of their first two games, the Padres' starter has given up no hits (Darvish yesterday, Manaea today.) This early in the season, and with the abbreviated spring training affecting pitchers' stamina, neither starter was left in the game to complete a no-hitter. The same reliever was first up both nights and lost the no-no two nights in a row.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 MLBTR has a rumor up about the Athletics being interested in Andrew Vaughn, presumably in return for Montas. Seems like something that could happen, now that Lynn and Giolito are both on the IL. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/04/athletics-interested-in-andrew-vaughn.html BaseballTradeValues.com thinks it would be a pretty even swap straight-up:

I would hate that
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 I was never a big fan of Vaughn, as 1B who don't have much power bore me. But if the White Sox are willing to put a dent in their future to better secure wins today, when I don't think the Twins actually are legit contenders, I suppose that might be to the Twins benefit.

Angels this afternoon and within one game of .500, and are in the wild card hunt, while the Angels sink deeper into fourth place in the A.L. West.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Are there any 'good' managers left? What managers successfully employ a 'win at all costs' process that aren't completely reliant on their teams' superior talent?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Amid all the trade news, MLB dropped this fun video this afternoon, a battle between Javy Baez facing Jose Berrios in the first inning yesterday. In this single plate appearance, Baez goes 3-4 with two homers, two walks, and a strikeout

Just once, and it's not a fair comparison because a ton of other teams passed too, yadda, yadda, yadda. Just not the best day to see this news item too.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Cleveland optioned Franmil Reyes. He is the last player they have left from their big Trevor Bauer haul. Just thought I’d share the schadenfreude.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 OOTP Baseball type injury, right @ashbury?

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Mentioned this before, but I was thinking with the Twins OF issues, Robbie Grossman would have been a nice undercover pickup. It's only a few games but he's off to a nice start in Atlanta.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Gotta admit I’m jealous, that’s a very fair price for a very good starter. Too bad the Twins prioritized Mahle over Castillo.
