I do not believe that the Correa signing came out of the blue. That just doesn't happen when this much money is involved. My guess is that Falvey and Levine (and, of course, Pohlad), and Boras (and, of course, Correa) have been working on this for some time, possibly since before the lockout ended. The preceding transactions the Twins made were almost bizarre unless the FO knew that they had something solid in the works. That they were able to get this done with no one catching wind of it is practically miraculous.

Edited to add:

And if this season turns out to be a successful one for our favorite team Falvine will have guaranteed themselves tenure for a long, long time.

IMHO, it absolutely came out of the blue. Correa didn't signal his willingness to sign a short term deal until just a couple days ago. This was a desperation signing by Correa. He needed to get into camp and have a full Spring Training.

If you look at all the 2022 combos at the trade deadline...whether the Twins are in first place or the wallowing in the wine cellar, trading Correa should be the Twins key strategy...?

Even if CC is on fire..ship him!

Fan fun at Target Field for 1/2 of a season..then go for the jugular trade!

I’d like to see him put the Twins jersey on first before discussing trading him…

You want to trade him in July if the Twins are in 1st??

Do not concur.

Seth's "2:24 in the morning" video keeps popping up at the bottom of my screen, and after subliminally viewing his haggard looking face over and over, I've decided that this video represents Twins Daily's "Blair Witch Project".  For earnest in-the-moment intensity, it will probably never be topped, at least until some kind of "Cloverfield" disaster, like a monster devouring Byron Buxton for lunch and Jorge Polanco for dessert.

There are a lot of posters over the last few days who need to be held accountable for their comments on front office/ownership and admit they were wrong. The Twins have not been as 'Twinny' the last 3 or so years. I hope this works out

Short term commitments and a payroll that hovers middle of the pack to lower third. The Correa signing falls in line with everything this FO values; brief tenure and "low risk." It's a great move for this year. Celebrate it for what it is, but let's not pretend this is some crazy venture into the unknown.

I'd hold off on dishing up crow considering the current starting rotation + bullpen, or the "necessary," potential downgrades they made to pay Correa. I too hope the gamble pays off.
