Time to cut bait

In my opinion it’s time to cut bait and do a rebuild with the news of Kiriloffs wrist!!! This team is not contending with the White Sox or even the Royals next year. It’s time to sell high on Berrios he’s been at best a mid rotation stater who flashes number 2 potential from time to time over the past few years trade him while the time is right!! Unload Donaldson if you can just to get out from under the money!! Trade Duffey and rodgers too they should both get back something decent

I can't, there are no ideas presented, just a long held prejudice that Berrios is gone no matter what and for good measure let's throw in the two most reliable bullpen arms. The Twins do not need to trade anybody at the deadline. This year may be in the toilet, but next year is still out there.

So, a guy gets hurt this season.  Has surgery for said injury this season.  Will be healthy by next season.  And that's the trigger for a rebuild?

There are plenty of arguments to support a rebuild, but I'm not following this one.

This seems like a rather outsized reaction to what appears to be a rather run of the mill wrist injury.

Frustrating? Absolutely. The kind of injury that causes an entire franchise to pivot? Oh, not even close.

You now think it is time to be sellers??  Where have you been for the last few months?  I've been advocating giving Berrios a deadline of late July to either agree to an extension or trade him while his value is the highest.  Kirilloff's injury has nothing to do with the decision.

The bunch that runs this team has made bad decision after bad decision and looks like they have created a perennial loser. So now they are going to start making great moves? I think the less they try to do the better. Just go play golf.

Harsh. But I understand the sentiment. Trouble is I left my clubs in the waterhole on Number 7 twenty years ago.

They will make offers so it appears they are willing to spend the money to keep Buxton and Berrios.  I think neither really wants to stay and spend their prime years or career with a team that tries to rebuild with magic beans (excluding Cruz and maybe Donaldson).  The Twins have been in rebuild mode since 1991.  They have won division titles in what is one of the weakest divisions in the MLB but can't win a play-off game.  Getting to the WS is the only winning I count.  If they could win the ALDS would be nice but still not the WS.  We have patiently waited since moving to Target field after being told that is the only way they could field a competitive team.  Heck we can hardly even get a player to the ASG except for the pity pick.  But I think they are stuck because most of the "super stars" probably have a do not trade to the Twins in their contracts.  Berrios, Buxton and Sano have been what we have been waiting for since Target field opened and most likely will be without any of them by next year.   If I were one of the 3 I would have very little confidence that the Twins can put decent players around them with the "dumpster diving" they are known for.  I will try to enjoy the rest of the season hoping with see some glimmer of hope with the youngsters!

What does Kiriloff being out for 2 months of meaningless games have to do with whether or not to rebuild long-term?

I'm not against trading players.  But i don't think you can trade Buxton. Not yet anyways.

Getting good contact on a baseball can hurt a sore wrist more than one might think.  He is absolutely making the right decision.

I don't often pull out the "troll" card, I like to believe most people are being sincere, but I think this is just trolling.
