162 games in a season and you go into the 9th down 13. Yeah you give up on that one, That’s why you let Astidillo pitch

No problem with letting Astudillo pitch.  No problem with letting Mercedes hit.  If you actually want to give up, then forfeit.

Does Thorpe count?

Yes Thorpe does count

My negativity isn't aging well. Even the Donaldson error couldn't help that time.

They’ll probably change that to a Sano error

Sano needs to be reminded to look the ball into his glove. Hand-eye coordination is made much harder when there is no eye.

.........and poor hand

Twins supposedly have some real top notch pitching prospects.

And we get....Bailey Ober? Who nobody's ever heard of and isn't even on the radar?

Straight out of central casting for this team.

Terry Ryan is having a great 2021, wherever he is.

Hey now—he was my Adopt-a-Prospect back in 2018!

(though I was too busy to ever provide any updates on him)

Are we counting down the magic number of losses until the Twins are eliminated from the postseason?

Well, Duran is coming back from an injury, Balazovic is currently injured, Winder has 15 pitches above low A, and Enlow and Canterino are still at High A.  All 5 of those guys might still debut this year, but none of them are in a place to be able to pitch for the Twins tonight.

Number of putouts the Twins fielders need to get before the game can end. Unclear if we go negative in extras or just rest to 3 each inning...

They are pros, right or wrong they’re not gonna let us tell them how they should play. That might work in college but not in the majors, you can’t say they’re ruining the game because the pros have been playing like that for over a century. I respect Larussa for demanding his players respect the game. Very few ball players actually make the majors, So if that elite club wants to have unwritten rules, they have earned that right

So which pitching prospects could we see this year? First there’s Ober, then what?

I won’t hazard a guess, but I do have this guy’s baseball card— he looks like a real hurler

Opting not to play the game as you normally would is not "respecting the game".

"Normally would" is a subjective term based upon a myriad of conditions through out the course of a game.

In this case down 13, I disagree, it’s just not worth it

I admittedly hated the opener idea when we first did it in 2018, but we never utilize the concept anymore. Feels like today would have been good time to bring that back.

A hitter "normally would" attempt to improve his team's outlook for plating runs, no?  Is there any other scenario where a hitter would not be attempting to improve his team's outlook for plating runs?

Or when you're stretched as far as you possibly can go.

He could have stretched just a little less, then. The ball hit the heel of his glove. Not that he would know, since he looked away.

How about this guy? Just a rookie in 1916.
