4 pitches down the middle so far to Buxton, and missed them all.... touched them.... but missed them.

None of them are fastball though.

RE: Kirilloff, I feel like the Twins' prospects don't reach the majors as well prepared as other teams' prospects. If you're Houston or Tampa Bay you can call up one of your top prospects (Carlos Correa, Yordan Alvarez, Randy Arrozarena) and they're contributing very soon. But the Twins' prospects - at least their hitters - always look totally raw and at a loss when they get called up. That was how Buxton and Sano looked when they were first called up, and it's how Kirlloff looks now.

Do we teach pitch selection in the minors? Kirlloff started his days by swinging at a couple of unhittable low sliders. Buxton and Sano had the same issue.

Sure seems that way. It would be nice to have a guy, that prized prospect, come up and rip up the league like we see it on some other teams, that's for sure.

What is our farm system ranked? Was top ten for a while there but I don’t think so anymore. Have to wonder if we squandered our window, if this season keeps going haywire

You might have a point, but you're simply wrong about Sano. He was crazy good in his rookie year, hitting .269/.385/.530 (.916 OPS) in 335 PAs.

Twins are just going for the 2019 Nationals methodology.

I hope you’re right...

I think it's still above average. If it came to it and the Twins started trading veterans at the deadline, they'd have some strong pieces to sell and would be able to make the farm system a top-tier one.

Of course, this team was supposed to be "going for it"... so to even broach this subject just makes me nauseous. We went through so many uncompetitive seasons just to see the window slam shut without even getting a freaking playoff win... but obviously I'm getting ahead of things here. Odds are they rebound to some degree.

You're right, I remember that now. He has looked more lost lately than he did back then.

I love Sano and I really hope he pulls it together.

If Kirilloff is THE big star prospect of the Twins farm system, I think this team might be in trouble.

Two line drive outs and a couple ground balls. I wouldn't give up on him just yet....

Sigh. At this point I really don't know what to say. We just faced one of, if not the, worst rosters in the league and looked absolutely lifeless. I don't know what it's going to take for this team to wake up, but this is not a good place to be as a fan or as a team. I know there are some pieces out, but they weren't doing anything prior to being out anyway, besides Simmons. He should help shore up the defense, but he isn't reliable as a bat which is the main issue. Shoemaker pitched really well and Thielbar looked okay. Alcala continues to have trouble with the longball, but he got a lot of swings and misses. The best thing about this upcoming trip to Cleveland is that we should get Simmons and maybe Kepler back healthy, and we don't have to face Shane Bieber. This upcoming series is a MUST win. It's getting late early.

Garver is just so bad. Who’s the catcher in st Paul? Couldn’t honestly be worse

Honestly I think it's time they start considering optioning Garver to AAA (he has 2 options). He's starting to become clear that he's not in a slump, he's just broken at the plate. They'd call Tomas Telis up, he can at least hit for average (hit .330 in AAA in 2019) and rotate him with Jeffers.

Rortvedt is also on the 40 man, but he's a defense-first catcher, and likely won't do much more than Garver at the plate.

At this point anything would be an upgrade.

DIdn't they outright Tellis off the 40 man recently? I could be wrong.

Jeffers is as terrible right now. Maybe Austudillo?
