sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 How long has it since the Twins won a ST game? How long has it been since we tried to have a game thread? Pure coincidence, i'm sure. But here is a thread what can serve as a game thread for those too lazy to start one. Right now St. Louis has them on the ropes 6-0...
TwinsFan2005 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Twins lose 6-1 @ Cardinals WP: Genesis Cabrera LP: Devin Smeltzer
TwinsFan2005 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Cardinals scored 6 runs in this game only three of them were charged on Twins pitchers
TwinsFan2005 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 The Twins drop their 3rd straight Arraez is hitting .125 so far this spring hopefully he can pick it up he drew a walk today on his first at bat tho
SomeGuy Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I listened to the radio broadcast for the first 3 or 4 innings. It was the St Louis broadcast and the only things that stuck out to me were how badly the announcers made fun of Kirilloff's throw home in the 1st inning and how bad they said the umps were. Sounded like a Twin hit a homerun that was badly mistaken for a foul (2nd inning I think) and it seemed like there were 2 or 3 pitches per half inning that the announcers disagreed with. I am not familiar with the STL radio crew but I got the feeling they would always be kind of annoying. This is just some of what they said about Kirilloff's throw "Throw to the plate from left field is terrible, really bad throw""That was an absolute rainbow""yeah the only thing it was missing was Dorothy and Toto"(Laughing from both announcers)
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Would signing Dorothy or Toto count as impact pitching?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Sometimes I find myself thinking, "Why don't the Twins just call up some of those highly regarded prospects?" Games like this remind me why they don't. This group of players looked pretty sloppy, pretty unprepared. I saw guys batting without a plan. I saw multiple scattershot throws from the outfield. What the hell, guys? I saw at least one crappy throw to first that resulted in an error. Keep working on it, boys.
akmanak Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 The team right now does not look discipline. Hopefully they start playing like they want to win and not just to coast.
Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I`m sorry to be off the subject but will Romero be able to play if he`s ready?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Would signing Dorothy or Toto count as impact pitching?I have it on the good authority of the Wicked Witch of the East that they also need a house.
High heat Verified Member Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Lewis hit a long “foul” in the second. He thought it was fair and so did Kirilloff. Had a long at bat but ended up striking out. Arraez walked in the first and had a nice long second at bat. Smeltzer left a few fastball up that got smoked!
bighat Verified Member Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Two more errors by the Twins yesterday, lots of unearned runs from Twins starters lately. That said, looks like Smeltzer kinda got lit up anyway. Twins prepping for a trip to La Republica Dominicana as they are playing the Tigers in Santo Domingo this Saturday. Sounds cool - hope it kind of triggers that "big game" feeling for them as they kick things into gear the next couple of weeks.
bighat Verified Member Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I`m sorry to be off the subject but will Romero be able to play if he`s ready? That's interesting, since he's stuck in the Dominican Republic right now - could he, in theory, come out of the bullpen in the DR series against Detroit this weekend? That would be weird but kinda cool. Can't imagine it would happen.

Also had a double that counted in the game The only real positive from these last few games is the play of Royce Lewis
Number3 Verified Member Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 ".... Arraez is hitting .125 so far this spring...." Blasted forceplates. I guess Arraez forgot the formula. As far as the sloppy play goes, I still think that all the Grapefruit games do is get the retirees off the golf course and put money in the coffers. They do nothing to improve players skills leading into the season. Funny thing is that the players who aren't suited up for a game are probably on the golf course after pretending to practice for a few minutes.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 4, 2020 Author Posted March 4, 2020 It's Spring Training... anyone can have an off day. (is this when minor league camp opens and we have to say bye to a bunch of folk on the major league side of things?)
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 Who we playin' today?

adjacent Verified Member Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Right now, looking at results, Dobnak is lapping the field in the competition for 5th starter, isn't he?
MN_ExPat Verified Member Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Quite possibly. He's definitely making the most of his opportunities... pretty cool to see.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Kirilloff has been looking really good. Hopefully he continues doing well and Eddie can give the Twins a solid first half so he can boost that trade value up.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Anyone there to see Chalmers strike out the side in his inning today?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 7, 2020 Author Posted March 7, 2020 Anyone there to see Chalmers strike out the side in his inning today?Alas i was not. But i am sure someone. Chalmers at least. And the ump. Maybe a catcher?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 7, 2020 Author Posted March 7, 2020 And while none of us commented here, the Twins beat the Tigers 7-6... Yeay us. Oh, i forget the formalities... Winnah!
OldSchoolBaseball Verified Member Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Anyone there to see Chalmers strike out the side in his inning today?Chalmers looked good. His curveball is definitely one of the best in their minor league system. Fastball sat 95...with command that he hasn’t always had in the past. That’s his biggest question mark. He could end up being the biggest surprise for the Twins. Most likely starts out in a Pensacola, but Rochester is probably only 3-4 good starts away.
