Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Looking at the radar, it's not a matter of if it starts raining, it's more of a matter of when the deluge begins. But first, don’t we usually see the gusts and hot dog wrappers tumbling across the screen?

TFRazor Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Apparently Ozzie Guillen once said that if AJ is not on your team you hate him, but if he is on your team you hate him less.Coming from Ozzie that's a compliment

Brian450 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Paxton coming out with a 'tight left glute' in the Yankee game... I think the Yankees' season goes thru James Paxton and his ability to stay healthy.
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Tarp is out.... call it now?Looking at the radar, I wouldn't count on this resuming anytime soon, if at all.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 But first, don’t we usually see the gusts and hot dog wrappers tumbling across the screen? As much as I respect them trying to put in a full 9 innings, especially this late in the season, I'm also pretty ok with just celebrating the 100th win and calling it a night. And at the very least, they really ought to pull the plug before the traffic signs take flight...
TFRazor Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 AJ got hit by a pitch one time and after the game a reporter asked Konerko if one his teammates should have plunked someone in retaliation. I don’t remember the exact wording but it was to the effect of A.J. gets what deserves. My favorite AJ story is the time he disagreed with the ump's strike zone so he asked him for a new ball, one he could see.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Reason #1,999 why I despise the Yankees. 5 HR's so far. (I said they'd get 6) And they lead us by 1. Yankees always find ways to hurt us. I'd so love to stick it to them in the playoffs.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Does the 7th need to be completed or can the game be called?

insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Does the 7th need to be completed or can the game be called?Once you get past the 5th inning....its an official game.

Yankees always find ways to hurt us. I'd so love to stick it to them in the playoffs.Given that the Yankees are finishing up their season in a homerun friendly park, aided by homerun friendly weather, they are going to have the record by season's end. I think accepting that is what we need to do. But not liking it. It just is what it is. But we hit 300 first.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Yankees can hit 20 zillion home runs for all I care, as long as the Twins beat them in the playoffs. The idea of this bunch playing the Yankees seemed less intimidating than it has for other Twins teams. Then Roy Smalley said this bunch isn't intimidated by the Yankees. Oh, crap.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 I remember playing games in rain... As a kid, we used to do football practices in any weather, including rain and snow. Baseball in rain, too...not so much snow... Baseball isn't really that fun in rain, because normally good players can look silly with the ball slipping out of their hand, and they can get hurt slipping on wet grass. On the other hand, football in rain is an absolute blast. The little, fast guys suddenly can't make their cuts without slipping and falling. Advantage goes to the slow, heavy folk whose cleats dig into the mud. Everybody gets filthy, which little boys love. Defenses love the rain because it means more fumbles and passes skipping off people's hands. One of the few good plays I remember as a kid happened in a rain game. I dropped back to pass, then handed off a sneaky draw to my big, lumbering fullback. He rumbled forward while I pretended to be scanning the field for a target. Literally nobody on the defense even looked at the fullback until he was about thirty yards down field. I just watched as he receded into the distance. How the hell did that work so well?? I still don't know.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 3 digits in the win column!! So is this a possible Y2K thing for Target Field and the Twins' own website? It's been almost 55 years since they've needed that third digit; hope the software can handle it.
