I find it curious that a team based about 75 miles away from THE Mayo Clinic has had such trouble keeping a relatively young roster healthy. Sure, Cruz is old. But the roster besides him is pretty young. Young guys are supposed to heal faster.

From a season perspective, it seems like this is more an issue of lots of injuries *at the same time* than one of lots of injuries *overall*. This team was remarkably healthy (especially the pitchers) until about mid-August, and now we have everyone going down together.

In some ways, this is more of a challenge because instead of outfielder #4 seeing regular action as #1, #2, and #3 are out one at a time, we are now seeing outfielders #6 and #7 in the lineup every day, because #1 (Buxton), #2 (Kepler), #4 (Cave), and #5 (Gonzalez) are all out at the same time.

Although it's brutal on us right now, it's helped us in the first 4 months. We might have 5 more wins at this point than we would have with a more normal pattern of injuries spread through the season. So instead of protecting a 5-game lead with a AAA lineup we'd be battling even-up with our usual stars.

Kepler

Polanco

Cruz

Rosario (why?)

Garver

Arraez

Sano

Astudillo

Schoop

Why is Rosario still batting 4th?

With the returning players, I'd be tempted to bat him 10th.

Regarding injuries, believe it or not it could be worse. The Yankees have 16 injured players, Padres have 15, Phillies 14, Pirates 12 ... The Twins are right about in the middle at 8.

And Sano, Kepler, Adrianza and Cave are coming back shortly, right? Gonzales is listed as "out indefinitely," which sounds bad; anybody have an update on him?

How is it NOT up to the player?

If the player says they are feeling good and good to go, they should be in the lineup/on the field.

Because players rarely are as careful as they should be. We see guys with concussions try to go back into events....
