If anything, this article makes me more impressed with Walter Johnson. Throwing 88 to 90 mph for 170 pitches per game every third game is a whole lot more impressive than the throwers of today.

Walter Johnson was a freak. However, tonight’s “soft tossing lefty” averages 3 miles per hour more than the “hardest thrower on earth”.

I don't buy for a second Walter Johnson threw 88 MPH. This artticle is just someone's guess.

Jeepers, just back from class in time to see Makina in trouble yet again.

 

I sure hope he gets a ground ball here. Don't want to see him face Betts again with the bases juiced.

Kaat and Circle me Bert, talking about 100 pitches and back in my day... while Berrios is looking gassed and completely out of whack on his mechanics... man the Twins need Berrios right again

Imagine how many HRs Bert would give up with this ball....

Okay, now the problem stops being Berrios and starts being Baldelli. Yank him, skipper.

Baldelli has a lot to learn about managing starting pitchers.

 

A LOT.

 

I probably would have taken him out after getting through the meat of the order in the 5th.

 

Single, walk on 14 pitches to start the 6th. No way is he still in after that. Someone should be up after the first seven pitch at bat and be ready after the second one.

The artillery range had him over 91. I don't buy that either, measured by doppler, not radar.

 

The 88 is the author's estimate based on 11 percent change in the time to run a mile from then to now.

 

Pretty shaky "science" if you ask me.

What could possibly necessitate that throw (sort of) to the plate, allowing the runner to move up to 2nd?

 

Brain cramp of the first order.

 

For God's, sake, now I'm hate-watching this game.

Hopefully Graterol can become that guy in a couple years!

Couple years for Graterol, who knows how many for Berrios, the Twins have their shot this year, no guarantees for tomorrow, hindsight is perfect but they should have at least got some starting pitching this season, we have 2 starters, gonna be tough, the rest of the way
