twinssporto Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Good afternoon Twins fans and welcome back to another game thread party! We have a first place team and we beat the Red Sox last night. Great time to be a Twins fan!! Before starting, I need to make another call out to Hong Kong David for his great game thread introduction yesterday. I loved the story! Since his intro was so much fun I thought I would do something similar and relay a funny story told to me by my grandmother about 25 years ago. A few of you may have already read this from me before but since our web audience is so much bigger with the Twins winning I'm going to retell it...Apologies if its' a rerun for a few of you. The Twilight Zone car ride with Grandma..... My uncle and I were driving back from a family reunion in Pella, Iowa with my grandmother one afternoon. We had the Cubs game on the radio and after about 30 minutes or so of listening my grandmother in the back seat of the car said, "you know that man asked me to marry him like 3 or 4 times." I turned around and asked my grandmother, "what man?" She said, "the guy on the radio." I asked, "the guy on the radio, Hary Caray?" She said, "yes." My uncle and I looked at each other in disbelief and we both turned around and said at the same time, "Harry Caray asked you to marry him!!??" She said yes again...She explained how she met him in Chicago right after high school when she moved to Chicago in the 30's. I asked her why she didn't marry him and she explained with a touch of sadness, "back then Swedish girls didn't marry Italian boys." Of course we asked her what he was like and she said he was always a lot of fun. She also mentioned how Harry once introduced her to one of the most attractive men she had ever seen in her life at that point. I again turned around and asked her who was that? Grandma said, "well that was Ronnie Reagan." Drop the mic and walk off the stage Grandma...It was a pretty cool story then and now. OK, back to the game thread. Big game tonight. I think the Twins are getting hot and will be peaking at just the right time in October. By the way, this is my 2,000th post. That's gotta be good luck for tonight's game. My pick the click tonight is Sano. Go Twins! October is almost here. Lineups: TWINS1. Max Kepler CF2. J. Polanco SS3. Nelson Cruz DH4. Eddie Rosario LF5. Miguel Sano 3B6. Jake Cave RF7. C.J. Blake Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Interestingly enough, Mr. Reagan was a baseball announcer on the radio early in his career.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Maybe I missed something in some thread about Buxton’s health, but is there a reason why he has only been used as a late inning replacement?
SpicyGarvSauce Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Maybe I missed something in some thread about Buxton’s health, but is there a reason why he has only been used as a late inning replacement? He isn't capable or comfortable enough swinging a bat yet.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 My understanding is that there is still some discomfort in the shoulder for Buxton. I don't think he's taking batting practice yet. Speaking of injuries, any word on Garver or Gonzalez?Maybe I missed something in some thread about Buxton’s health, but is there a reason why he has only been used as a late inning replacement?
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Interesting that Kepler's leading off against a lefty. I guess with Garvsauce out of the lineup, Tortuga would not be the prototypical Bomba Squad leadoff hitter.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Not confident we will get underway on time.

twinssporto Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 I hope Berrios is on fire tonight. I would love to see him mow through this lineup and build some more confidence for October.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 PA system playing Riders on the Storm during the rain shower.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 I hope Berrios is on fire tonight. Hope he's not put out by the rain.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 Hope he's not put out by the rain. Then we would need to build a funeral pyre.
