I love Arraez, but that's the kind of power you won't get with him. If Schoop can keep hitting the ball hard and not strikeout as much I think he should get a good share of 2nd base time.

The White Sox went the worst broadcasting team (wtih Hawk) to the best!

Hands down, in my opinion (naturally).

Concur.

They are really, really good.

Listening to Bert read the least interesting parts of the media guide really gets old.

"Good pickup by the Tigers, was a .240 hitter, now hitting .280..."

I can't listen to Dick and Bert anymore. Time to move on in my opinion.

I liked the part in the first inning where Bert told us that pounding the strike zone was the reason Pineda consistently pitches into the 7th inning.

If by consistently you mean once each in May, July, and August, yeah.

Do you guys think it'd be wise to give Pineda one more 10 day IL stint? I'm thinking, as of now, he's the opening game starter in the playoffs if the Twins make it. Another week and a half off may be helpful to preserve him for the long run.

The problem is Schoop is mostly only useful against lefties, and there are far more righties than lefties in the MLB. Also, Schoop is not good getting on base compared to Arraez, which is something this lineup needs to complement its power. Jonathan is also a very poor clutch hitter (at least this season).

Schoop is a useful player, but the Twins lineup could use a OBP guy who you know is going to make contact most of the time when he's at the plate.

I don't think so, unless there are signs he needs another break.

Berrios and Gibson could really use breaks.

Way too early to think about that. If the divisional status permits it, my priorities are:

1. Everyone gets a day or two of rest by plugging in Smeltzer, Thorpe, whatever into the rotation on occasion, stretching out the rotation to 6-7 guys

2. Berrios gets 7-8 days of rest, minimum

3. Gibson gets 7-8 days of rest, minimum

4. Odorizzi gets shortened starts for most of September

They can give him as much rest as they think he needs in September without using the IL.

Agreed with Berrios and Gibson. Was just wondering about Pineda's workload considering he didn't really throw any innings last year.

I find Dick neither good nor irritating.

He just... is.

A classic middle-of-the-road announcer.

I like Smalley, really like Morneau, and really like Hawkins.

Time to move the radio guy over to FSN (not Gladden) and send Bremer out to pasture with Gordo.

The magic of Bert (and Dick) is in the nostalgia. His voice represents baseball to a generation of Twins fans. Some grew up watching games with Dick and Bert and fell in love with the sport to their narration. Baseball itself is such a timeless game steeped in history and tradition. Purposely moving at a slower pace. I shudder to think of what people would have said about Herb Carneal and John Gordon gag the internet been around for their last broadcasts. It's sad people can't appreciate that.

Provus is great and a Syracuse guy taboot! I like the perspective Gladden brings. Nice thing about mlb.tv is you can listen to the radio guys instead, which is what I do more often than not.

So will Jorge and Marwin bat right?

Dave’s top tens are supposed to start with 10 and count down....

I only did a top 8 or 9, depending.

So, no rules broken.

I can't imagine anyone, anywhere, would have said anything bad about Herb Carneal, no matter the medium.
