Eduardo Escobar has 28 HR and an amazing 98 RBI for Arizona this year. Holy cow. Not saying the Twins had anywhere to put him, don't think anyone said it was a bad trade either. But jimminy christmas, I hadn't checked on his stats in a while.

He's incredibly popular here in AZ too.

That tells me that he apparently doesn't have control of his fastball. If a pitcher doesn't have that, then it's highly unlikely that the rest of his pitches will be more than minimally effective.

Well, he certainly didn't gave control of that specific pitch.

Spend the rest of this game watching the catchers glove. And then watch where he catches the ball.

Track it... See how often pitchers hit their target.

Not just Gibson... Keep going with all pitchers.

It's a myth that pitchers have the kind of pinpoint control you are demanding of Gibson.

Maybe we are but clearly coming from different directions.

I mean, I’ve watched probably 80% of twins games since he’s been a starter. He’s not good, he’s not bad. He’s average. I couldn’t tell you a single one of his stats, but having seen as much of him as I have, I think my assessment is valid.

Has Gibson struggled with any other AB tonight?  71 pitches through 5, not many other starters on this team are getting to that point lately.

Again...he missed his spot. It happens. Gibby has pitched well tonight, been a little unlucky, and hurt by the Twins lack of infield range.

Yep across the board. I'm actually feeling very good about Gibson's start tonight, aside from grooving a single pitch to a slugger after getting singled to death (hard to bitch too much about a bunch of soft singles, as that's just baseball sometimes).

Twins might not have a chance until Nova gets out of this game. Dude's been on fire lately. Hope they can chase him by mid-6th. Take a few pitches and just get the guy on the bench. Keep the score the same until then.

I'm not expecting perfection on every single pitch. But if you're having trouble spotting fastballs, most hitters will lay off other pitches and wait for a meatball fastball.

By the way, I'm not able to watch the game tonight, so I have no idea how often he's hitting any of his spots tonight.

His fastball has been pinpoint more often than not. He's pitching very well.

Signing Escobar would eliminate the chance of signing Schoop. Escobar at short, Polanco at 2B, Sano at 3B. This would be a scary infield.

Exactly. Aggies is saying the glass is half full, and you're saying that the glass looks like some godawful thing your first wife would've picked out for the wedding china.

Did I just see a commercial for “Joe meower” presented by something called rachael Ray delish nutrish ?

Because a baseball might come through your TV screen?

Hoping for no winces. I can’t imagine something ruptures and is healthy in ten days

I'm wondering how you've avoided noticing that until now.

I hope to avoid it from now until it happens.

Do you realize that there a handful of people reading this post that have probably watched over a thousand baseball games easy.

And those handful of people all know for a fact that Bryce Harper does not send a 1st pitch fastball down the middle of the plate to the seats "every single time".

Now Ryne Harper... Yes... He will punish every mistake pitch.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xCqfwXeq6_8 bad Ryne! Bad! Now Ryne must shut ears in the oven!

I disliked the trade since I have been a huge fan of Escobar ever since he came up. I liked him better than Polanco.

When I first came up I thought major-league pitchers had pinpoint control, and I was worried that the best I could do was hit an area about a foot square. Then I found out that’s what everybody meant by pinpoint control, and that I had it.

Yeah, they've been playing that the past few nights. Don't forget the "Byron Barkston" companion tee.

PS: In case you're confused, no pets are allowed in Target Field that day. So don't even think about bringing your animals to pet appreciation day!

The Saints do have a few games every year where you can bring you dog to
