jud6312 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Funny things happen in small sample sizes Spoiler alert: he had basically the same number of appearances there and on the road, but did not have nearly the same results.
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Step off the ledge people. He will be fine. I promise. I agree. But it's still frustrating to watch.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 He’s gotta pitch the 9th I guess? What a shambles
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 They traded 3 good prospects for this guy...
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Romo stops the threat. Now we need crooked insurance runs until the Royals finally put in a position player to pitch.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 26.1 IP at AT&T vs. 24.1 IP not at AT&T Yeah, but that doesn't fit the "Dyson's good, you just have to cut him some slack" narrative.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 So now we know where the bad luck is coming from!Weren't for bad luck, i wouldn't have no luck at all... And i'm fuzzy on this whole good/bad thing.
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 26.1 IP at AT&T vs. 24.1 IP not at AT&T And....
mikeee Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 maybe we can score 5 more... who needs pitching?
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Thank God for Sergio Romo!
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 And.... People were saying that the differences in ERA was due to a small sample size
jud6312 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 They traded one mediocre prospect and got back another, plus him, plus a PTBNL. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your narrative. Pretty sure they're talking about Dyson, not Romo.
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Why does it feel like we're losing?Because we have been spoiled by having the most successful season in a long time? Because we have high hopes going forward? Because baseball is by its very nature often frustrating?
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 FIFTEEN hits for the royals tonight, folks. The same royals we laughed at when the Indians mopped the floor with them Still a major league team.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Yuck... though I will say this about Dyson, he gave up a legit double and single and then did his job - he induced some groundballs, but had Sano butcher the throw and had the shift thwart a routine groundout. That’s why strikeouts > groundouts by a landslide.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 They traded one mediocre prospect and got back another, plus him, plus a PTBNL. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your narrative. I don't get how you can look at Jaylin's numbers this year and call him mediocre.
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 People were saying that the differences in ERA was due to a small sample size Dyson is a good pitcher. The differences in ERA are due to small sample size. He's not absolutely elite but somewhere just below that. He's been unhittable at home and hittable on the road you've made that point.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Still a major league team.Yeah, and a bad one at that. 30 games under and they have 40 wins. Not. Good.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 In 49 appearances in SF Dyson compiled an impressive 2.43 ERA. After two appearances in MIN, that impressive ERA has jumped up by over a run and is not looking nearly as good anymore.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 3 earned runs per inning for Dyson so far. That's consistent.
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 There are 5 players with an OPS above 1.000 this season. Cruz is the 5th of those 5. The other 4 are under 30.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 3 earned runs per inning for Dyson so far. That's consistent. It's actually 3 earned runs per appearance, he's only completed 0.2 innings.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 3 righties due up for Romo, let's go!
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Wow. Save some straws for the rest of us to grasp at. Lol are you really putting the burden of proof on me to prove that a guy who has been anywhere from good to really good his whole career except 1 year is not somewhere between good and really good? There's one person grasping at straws here. There's really no need to be reactionary to a bad 2 innings . I'll stick with the larger sample size of his track record and be confident in it.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 ***Moderator Note That’s enough of the bickering and personal attacks.
70charger Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 No, I think it's cute that you think he's cute. It's super adorbs. But if you would be so kind as to explain when SSS for a reliever becomes non-SSS that would be helpful. Because I would say that 50ish appearances wouldn't qualify anymore. So, please enlighten me. The stats I quoted before were 50ish appearances. Those stats are stellar. He's had two bad appearances for the Twins. Those stats are bad. What are you asking?
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Dyson is a good pitcher. The differences in ERA are due to small sample size. He's not absolutely elite but somewhere just below that. He's been unhittable at home and hittable on the road you've made that point. That means Dyson is a good pitcher in SF and he is below average everywhere else. Unfortunately he is going to have to play everywhere else now except SF.
