FLTwinsGuy Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Lol rogers looks so nonchalant and just goes out and dominates
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 No chicken in this veggie household, but an amazing pizza with sea beans, roasted garlic, gruyere, fontina, and mozzarella. (Followed by one with morel and oyster mushrooms...)
snotboogie Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 I've missed a few games because of work and lots of work around the house. This is the first game I've paid attention to in a while. Awesome!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 And Buxton’s hurt again. Why can’t we have nice things?
Darius Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Massive win. Great collective outing by the pitching staff. Get the sweep tomorrow and really take the wind out of their sails.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Taylor Rogers is _______My man-crush?
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 That was domination. The Indians look deflated. At worst, we gained a game over 3 daysHopefully 3 games. However, tomorrow will be no picnic with Bieber pitching for the Tribe, even with Berrios on the mound.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 I would have preferred not seeing Rogers, but... *Only threw 25 pitches since last Saturday.*Had warmed up earlier.*Lefty starting the inning in the middle of the order.*If two guys get on, you’re going to go to him anyway, so this way he starts the inning clean.*Berrios goes tomorrow and everybody but him** will be available.*Off day Monday.*Opportunity to step on their throat and guarantee the series win. Blowing a game like this would be huge. **By only going 8 pitches, Rogers may still be available for a batter or two in a fireman situation tomorrow.
Danchat Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 The Twins have won the last 4 of 5 games, and we might just be catching fire again. Plus we get the hapless Mets after this. As I've said most the season, I'm not very worried about Cleveland.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 He actually only threw 8 pitches.Yep. Caught it.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 What i missed?Twins win. Home runs. Blah, blah, blah.

ewen21 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Buxton with an outfield accident AGAIN No one should want him to keep on playing this way.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Buxton with an outfield accident AGAIN No one should want him to keep on playing this way.If i could play like that, i would. And i would brook no restraint. I am wondering how this ended up happening, as this catch likes the normal "arms keep you from face planting" style of dive/fall. He rolled forward more than one normally does and at least his hat brim caught the ground and popped off.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 And Buxton’s hurt again. Why can’t we have nice things?I think he'll miss tomorrow and be back Tuesday. But he is who he is. He'll never play more then 130 games in a season. I also think he is who he is at the plate. He's Kevin Kiermeir. Nice player. Not a franchise player.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Buxton with an outfield accident AGAIN No one should want him to keep on playing this way.He shouldn't make a great catch?
ewen21 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 He shouldn't make a great catch?Don't be ridiculous. Make great catches but learn how to not knock yourself silly. Is that out of the question? It looked to me that on this particular play the ball was at least two feet off the ground when he got to it. A lot of great outfielders I've seen probably would have caught at their knees without diving if they closed in on a ball like that. I heard an oldtimer (forget who he was) say the he never saw Joe DiMaggio dive once. That's a little much, but if you want to encourage reckless play (and he is needlessly reckless at times) then expect him to have a short career. We were up three runs with two outs and nobody on so perhaps he can measure the game and pick and choose when he does something like that Quite frankly, I would much rather him be a better hitter and strive to use his athleticism to make plays without violently throwing his body around. The true greats in the outfield were a lot more graceful. He sometimes looks like he's trying to make plays look more extreme.
Token Twin Verified Member Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 His playing style is naturally aggressive, but I agree that he needs to be more situationally aware. Letting up would have been the smarter play last night unless he felt confident in a feet first slide. Save the full on dives and wall collisions for when it really counts.

And I strongly believe that few if any other players in the world would have even gotten to the ball. And it was a very high-leverage point in the game at which every out was critical. And, quite frankly, I very strongly believe that anyone who thinks he was doing that just for show, as I infer from your last sentence that you do, is very much mistaken.
