nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Why must they do this to TD? Does the front office not understand the level of snark and condemnation this will bring to our site?! Thad, there are children reading this site!!!!

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the awesome system in terms of providing any help......
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Maybe they’re just bringing him in to scout Iglesias, Garrett and Stephenson. Or even better, he’s got incriminating photos on the Reds GM.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Only 28 with SOME past success and Rochester doesn't look to be providing any LH BP arms unless Smeltzer or Thorpe get a shot. And I'd rather they stay in the rotation for now. Meh, why not take a flier.

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Why not promote someone from AA or A+? "only 28?"Absolutely agree. "Only 28", as opposed to say 31, and having had some success at the ML level and just young enough to find that success again vs the begining of possible velocity decline, etc. I don't think its a whole lot to be hopeful or upset. Just a flier. Mid year promotions across the board should be happening soon.

Just a flier. Mid year promotions across the board should be happening soon. I'm going to hesitantly agree. It looked like when he was successful Krol was throwing 94-95 but more recent showings were more 92-93. Recently the Twins have had some success with velocity gains, so if they can find that missing 2 MPH maybe they turn back the clock. And by turn back the clock, I mean that one single year, 2016. Don't turn it back too far because he also stunk before that when he pitched out of the Tigers bullpen.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 The thing is, you have to drop someone from the 40-man if you want to bring him to the majors. So, who will NOT be in the plans for 2020: Moya, Vasquez, Gonsalves, Romero, Hildenberger, Littell, Smeltzer. Thorpe, Stewart? Of course, you could trade any of those guys. But, at this point, I would put more stock in any of them than a minor league free agent. Of course, you can jettison names like Parker, Harper, Magill or Moran from the major league roster, too. You already put Torreyes into limbo somehow without losing him. So the only position players on the bubble are Wade or Cave. Youa re not getting rid of Willians. Wow. Just realized how much fluff might be on the Twins roster. Maybe some of these names can be involved in a trade \package for someone who will be on the roster, too, in 2020 and beyond.

I'm OK removing Moya, Vasquez, Hildenberger and Smeltzer any time. I doubt any of them get claimed, but if they do I wouldn't lose much sleep. Eades doesn't do a whole lot for me either and we're going to have a Mejia problem any minute now.
