twinssporto Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Welcome back to another exciting game thread and fun filled evening! I need to start this game thread by first apologizing to all of the Twins Daily readers out there. I was supposed to start the game thread last night but completely forgot about it (yes, I will take the blame for our loss last night). In order to redeem myself and help the Twins stop their 2 game skid I'm prepared to do two things: 1. I will be attending tonights game and will personally cheer the boys on! 2. In order to rebuild my reputation on this site and build a more neighborly community, I am prepared to buy a couple of beers for any Twins Daily readers lucky enough to attend tonights game. The first three posters on this thread that are attending tonight's game and say, "buy me that beer", I'll meet you in the lower level concourse behind home plate at the end of the 3rd inning. This might seem like a sketchy internet thing but since we're meeting in a large public venue its probably safe right? I'll try posting some updates live from Target Field! Go Twins!! Free beer! Tonights lineups: Twins 1. Max Kepler (RF)2. J. Polanco (SS)3. M. Garver ©4. Eddie Rosario (LF)5. CJ Cron (1B)6. M. Gonzalez (3B)7. W. Astudillo (DH)8. J. Schoop (2B)9. B. Buxton (CF) Angels 1. T. La Stella (3B)2. M. Trout (CF)3. S. Ohtani (DH)4. A. Simmons (SS)5. A. Pujos (1B)6. B. Goodwin (RF)7. J. Lucroy ©8. L Rengifo (2B)9. D. Fletcher (LF)
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 sounds like a sketchy internet thing. Anywhooo, I stopped by my favorite bar again today on the way home. There at the bar, as usual, sipping his 3rd or 4th scotch of the afternoon, was my friend Alf. Alf is...old. Older than dirt. Older than me. But Alf is wealthy, and, well, he recently married a 21 yr old girl. Really, realy attractive 21 yr old girl. "Chief," he said, beaming. "My wife is pregnant. How about them apples. At my age! Still getting it done." "Well, Alf," I said. "That's...interesting. Tell me something...Do you remember when you went hunting last fall, and you forgot your gun, and took your umbrella instead?" "Yeah." "And do you remember you pointed that umbrella at a deer, when 'bang bang,' and the deer fell over dead?" "Yeah." "What did we decide about that situation, Alf?" "We decided someone else shot the deer." "Precisely. You see my point, right?"

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Has Ohtani ever actually played a position (other than pitcher)? I ask because Pujols isn’t getting any younger and he has been a negative rated first baseman for the last 3 years. I have to think they want Pujols to DH a lot more than he plays first.

snotboogie Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I’d love a beer but I’m one of those nerds who scores the game. I’m glued to my seat until the final out. Come to think of it, this keeps me from drinking too many beers. Beautiful night for a ballgame for once this season.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I'm at the game, but I'm not a beer guy! I'm a Scotch guy...and no I'm not Alf. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm much younger than Chief! Thanks anyway and enjoy the game and superb weather!

Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I was excited for the game until I saw Gibson was pitching. Strike, strike, ball ball ball. It's like watching paint dry.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 We need to get on track with a win here. C'mon, boys, let's see some RISP hitting and a good start form Gibby!
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I was excited for the game until I saw Gibson was pitching. Strike, strike, ball ball ball. It's like watching paint dry.and ... a 7 pitch first inning. !
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 and ... a 7 pitch first inning. ! Thanks Marwin.
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 With the Indians winning earlier, today is very important for the Twins. Swing Early. Swing Often.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 What are Max Kepler's two favorite numbers?
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 What are Max Kepler's two favorite numbers? A couple of chicks he met at Augie's?
bighat Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Look how Polanco makes the pitcher work - seems a no-brainer for a leadoff guy compared to the guy before him. Great hustle too.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 What are Max Kepler's two favorite numbers? 0 and 2. It's the count he's in most often.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 0 and 2. It's the count he's in most often. Ah...like Joe, except he was always hitting with 2 outs.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 There's that RISP I'm talking about!
bighat Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Rosie! Solid hit buddy. Polanco's hustle pays off there.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Twins getting a hit with a RISP and two outs?? Am I dreaming?
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 A couple of chicks he met at Augie's?Wo. I was a cab driver, I remember Augies. Still there, huh?
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Way to go Rosario! Remind me, why is Kepler leading off instead of hitting 7th or so?Yes, this needs to be addressed. We're 40 games in, why not give it to Buxton? Or Polanco? Or?
Gibby Provisional Member Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Wo. I was a cab driver, I remember Augies. Still there, huh? I think it actually is.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Wo. I was a cab driver, I remember Augies. Still there, huh?If it’s working for them, why change?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Oh! The bar, not the ladies...
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Why am I laughing so hard about the Viking horn being played when the Twins scored that run? I laughed harder when they played the Fortnite jingle after Trevor May struck a guy out.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
