Just depends on whether he feels it's worth the 2-3 million bucks that will certainly be offered by someone. I know he's well-situated financially but geez, 3 million dollars? I'd find it hard to turn that down.

Would you if you had already made $ 200 mil plus?

according to baseball reference, joe mauer has made more than $218 million in 15 seasons. hard to believe another $2-3 million — or even $10 million — will be a big factor. and if it is, he oughta have some hard questions for his financial planner.

It might not be about the money for him whether or not he plays just one more.

The more I watch Astudillo, the more I fall in love. He's somehow hitting .342 and hasn't struck out in his last 48 PAs. Obviously he's not going to be able to keep that up, but it's really refreshing after seeing Bobby Wilson languish at the plate time and time again.

I’m sorry I just hit the wall with Dick n Bert. After many years of dealing with the same inane comments and homer orientation I can’t take it anymore. Bert has to go and Dick should go as well. Thanks to all for dealing with my rant

He has been brutal tonight

With his mediocre defense and his bat only really providing singles, I think we can answer the earlier Logan Forsythe thread with a resounding "nope". There will be better options available in the offseason.

Agreed. They need to move Polanco to 2nd where he could be a plus defender and go and get a real shortstop

Bert is slowly getting phased out as he plays more and more golf each year, but I think he is going to get to go out on his terms. I don't see Dick getting replaced any time soon. And to be honest, as bad as Dick can be at times, he has a voice that is easy to listen to and the prospect of replacing both of our broadcasters in one go would worry me, because there are a lot of play by play guys who make Dick seem like Vin Scully by comparison. Granted, there are a lot that would be significantly better too but Dick always seemed pretty middle of the road to me in terms of broadcaster quality. I think if our team was halfway decent we'd all be too busy enjoying baseball to have any significant qualms with him, but it is frustrating when we're playing like trash and him and Smalley are trying to make Wilson or someone seem like some fantastic player.

Basically, Dick is a guy who is perfectly passable when we're doing ok, but is never going to shake things up or be anything beyond a homer when we're stinking it up.

Guys like Willians Astudillo are reason I like baseball: Willie Norwood, Jose Morales, Ron Coomer, Mickey Hatcher: they bring a vaudville element to the game, 3 stooges-like at times, but they also have the ability to be excellent at the same time, and don’t take themselves too seriously.

Astudillo is my new favorite player. Hot take: he is the best Twins catching option. He is a far superior hitter to Castro and is pretty good behind the plate. He needs to be on the 40 man next year.

Kohl Stewart part of the answer?

Definitely worth keeping on the 40 man roster, but I'd like to see him get more experience at AAA and figure out if his future is going to be in the bullpen or not.

Think it is time to give Hildy some time off

C'mon, he hasn't even pitched in half the games this year. What good is a reliever if you can't trot them out there for 80+ games

Why the **** is Molitor continually taking out his "starter" after 75 pitches in these cluster**** games where he doesn't actually start?

This season has been lost for five months and we should be seeing if Stewart and Gonsalves have what it takes to go deep into games, not go five or six innings.

My god.

I think Bert just called out Molitor for pulling Stewart. 76 pitches.

He has a valid point.

Also, what sort of outcome was Molitor even hoping for with this challenge? Would've been a close play at first even if Forsythe turned and threw to first smoothly
