Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Kohl Stewart on to pitch the second.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Oh, if you want to watch baseball games that means something, check out "championship leverage index" as described here: https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2018/8/28/17789146/championship-leverage-index-postseason-mlb-metric Huge game between the Rockies and Dodgers starts at 9:10 PM CST. jimmer Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 That was a wicked curve for strike three!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 So, I am curious as to how the “primary” does some of his game preparation. From some of the times I arrived early enough at the ballpark to watch, I know that part of the preparation is pitcher and catcher standing 100 feet or so away from each other. Usually in the outfield. That’s done before the regular warm up pitches, so if the opener only goes 1 inning, it would still take place prior to game time. But what about when the opener goes two? Are the Twins altering preparations? Does the primary warm up and then sit for 20 or so minutes? Not sure I love that idea. These logistical type things need to be figured out if the opener concept is going to work properly.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 There seems to be a lack of passion on the game threads of late.Might have to do with the team on the field. Pretty good chance 1/3 of the lineup won’t be on the roster next year and another 1/3 that aren’t expected to be regular starters. Not exactly selling hope for next year.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Since when was it bring your dog to the ballpark day? Also, Dick: "Well... at least they're not looking at their cell phones."
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I don’t know about the opener concept but Stewart seems to be a good follower.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 So is Stewart beginning to get the hang of this whole pitching in the major leagues thing?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I thought Stewart would have to be a reliever to stay in the big leagues, but as a primary pitcher/long reliever? Huh, he might just be a keeper.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Duffey just doesn't want to stay around, does he?
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Duffey just doesn't want to stay around, does he?He loves to pitch so much, that 1-2-3 innings are just too short and not satisfying for him. He wants to stay out there longer.
slash129 Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Well, at least some interesting things still happen ... Way to go, Polanco!
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Finally, May gets to close out a game.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Dick and I just said, "Randy Bush!" at the same time. I hate me.
Cast of Thousands Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Good to see Kohl Stewart with some positive results, even if he still does walk too many guys. That is fixable I would think. Let's hope he makes the most of the next few weeks, finish the season strong!
