sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I like this opener concept. You mean i don't have to do the bulk of the work if i just start it off? It is like being on top of a mountain, slipping, and seeing the few skittering stones upset more stones until there is a full blown avalanche... Or like a game thread in which i just happen to mention something from a popular movie or singer and... On second thought, i think i'm going to be very careful, and not even mention... oops, almost stepped into that one. So if one of you wants to be the primary game threader, supply yer own thoughts! I do got a line up fer y'all! TwinsGabriel Moya (L) 1. Logan Forsythe (R ) 2B2. Ehire Adrianza (S) 3B3. Jorge Polanco (S) SS4. Robbie Grossman (S) DH5. Max Kepler (L) RF6. Willians Astudillo (R ) C7. jimmer Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Wow! What an ugly looking lineup today.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 That has to be in the running for worst lineup any MLB team will put out this year.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 With that Twins line up anyone attending the game should get a refund of at least 50% of what they paid for their ticket.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 "It's a million to one shot... but it just might work!"
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Everybody should be fired for allowing that lineup to happen.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 And where the f-ck is Bartolo? I thought he was starting this game.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 This lineup is an embarrassment. If they trot this and the opener out when I go to Zubaz night, I might not even go inside. Just pick up the pants and go home.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Austin sits against a lefty and Grossman with his .700 ops hits 4th... amazing Paulie. Don't forget to bunt them over today.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 And where the f-ck is Bartolo? I thought he was starting this game.Does that mean Texas is trying this opener thing on for size?
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I can not begin to explain how much I hate the "opener".
blindeke Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Why is Giminez playing 1st
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 And for three outs, the Texas guy with the 15 ERA is tossing a no-hitter.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Why is Giminez playing 1stWhy not? He can do it all.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I can not begin to explain how much I hate the "opener". Listening to Dick explain this is worse than the concept itself.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Listening to Dick explain this is worse than the concept itself. I'm not sure if I take that back yet.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 Rangers seem to like it... 2-0 Them.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Isn't the point of this to match up lefty vs lefty and so on? If so, why is Moya left in to face Beltre?
Danchat Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Wow, I love how the guy hitting .500 OPS at AAA is playing 1B. I mean, if you're going to use him as a catcher, fine, but dear goodness Molly. Welp, the opener is sure working out well. It seems like when the Twins try to pull things from the Rays it never works. It really feels like this team/organization has no idea what they're doing at times.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Ha, Busenitz heating up so we'll use two openers before we get out of the first.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Somebody should be fired for putting this product on the field!
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Everyone in the starting line up has been in the lineup as the 8th or 9th place hitter this season. That has to be historically bad. Gimenez and Forsythe have no starts as the 9th place hitter but several as the 8th spot in the National League. Kepler and Polanco are the only two players without a start as the last position player in the lineup. They both have starts as the 8th place hitter in the line up.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I heard an interview of Nick Anderson and he talked about the opener concept. He didn’t quite say it directly, but he seemed not a fan of it, saying that it’s a different mindset to adjust to open the game.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 The Rangers broadcasters don’t seem a fan of the concept. Basically saying that it send ps the wrong message ... that you aren’t good enough to get through a lineup 3 times. Well, I’m out. This game is gonna suck and I can’t take it and won’t spew on the game thread over it.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Boy, this "opener" and line-up are working out just wonderfully, aren't they? Just like they drew it up.
Danchat Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Well... um... I guess this is a good time to figure out that we don't want to use the Opener.
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Hello--and Goodbye. Han Joelo took one look at that lineup, a two run deficit after the first, and he just kept on surfing. Is the E-town rubber match on?
mrmpls Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Molly must be trying to get fired, why else is this lineup ??? Falvey-Levine are you even watching? Thought spring training is in march,- total failure top to bottom, Beslisle- Jiminez even being here, WHY ?????
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 First I just want to note that Little had to face the top of the order in the second inning anyway, and he struck him out.
Fargoguy Provisional Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I'm not wasting my Sunday afternoon watching this nonsense. I'm not even going to type how many ways that this is ridiculous. This reminds me of the mid 90's. Maybe we can get Rich Becker and Scott Stahoviak to come back.
