Game Thread: Twins @ Blue Jays, 7/25/18 @ 3:07 PM CT

[GCTF]

So do we get the good FRE or the bad FRE?

Probably

[wavedog]

Rodney usually has a way to make the game interesting - he is all about the entertainment.

[tvagle]

We get the "This is not a save situation FRE"

[Don Walcott]

I’m not okay with pitching Rodney here. Tailor-made Magill situation.

[TwinsCD]

Another fine example of Molitor's pitiful bullpen management.  You have a big 4-game series against the Bosux coming up and you bring in your closer for how many pitches in a 6-run game?

[Puckett34]

Why did we have to get swept by the Royals???

Because baseball.

[Mill1634]

TWINS WIN!!!!!

Wow.

Are we, or aren't we dead?

[Nine of twelve]

Just tuned in to see the last two walks. C'mon Maximilian!

I'll take full credit for winning this game by tuning in at just the right time. You're welcome.

So Molitor burns up Rodney this evening so he may not be available tomorrow?

I don't quite understand.

[Don Walcott]

What a play!!!

YAY!!!  The Twins have had some very nice double plays over the last three days.

Yes

Yes . Save him for Boston.

[Squirrel]

This team is all peaks and valleys.

[Blake]

And the Twins sweep a team, on the road, that has given them fits for the better part of a decade.

Another reason why baseball is such a great sport.

[snotboogie]

And it only took 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Magic Number Update:

Division: 70

Wild Card: 75

[VATwinsFan]

Don't look now but the Twins actually have six regulars/semi-regulars with BAs > .270.

[VATwinsFan]

4 for 6, double, HR, with 5 RBIs -- this must be the Garver we've been waiting for.

They're still 6 games below 500 so until they at least get to that point, I can't really take seriously looking at the standings.  Of course, now this continues to muddle the trade deadline situation too.  A 3-1 weekend in Boston would muddle it further but if they're winning, that can only be positive.

Just throwing out the facts

For example...Boston's magic number to eliminate the O's is 19

He's not a catcher who can hit, like Mauer was, which is rare. But he's a hitter who can catch, and that's acceptable.

It's acceptable if he either OPSes well over .800 or improves his catching by a considerable amount. He doesn't have to be a good catcher, he just needs to be better than he is now.

The current Mitch Garver is still a bad player at a .775 OPS. I can barely watch the guy catch and I'm far from a catching guru, I can just see when someone is truly bad at the craft.

[gocgo]

6 runs, no HRs yet :-)

Yeah...I totally cursed us.  Bad call on my part.  I actually thought Erv got hit pretty hard, but got bailed out by some good defense.

We win yet?
