Puckett34 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Dear Logan Morrison, Thank You for trying. I appreciate the attempt. Keep working on it and just push it past the pitcher if you can. Don't give up. Sincerely, Riverbrian. I hate bunting. But I approve of this message and bunting to beat the shift

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Rather than use Hughes, they are just going to burn through the bullpen? Other than money....

bighat Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 At this point do the Twins swap Lynn and Hughes? May's not stretched out yet and Big Erv seems like he's still a few weeks away... I just don't know how the Twins can keep putting Lynn out there. He's been flat out terrible and is perhaps the worst starter in the league right now. How can the Twins justify throwing him out there again?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Welp. Pitchers just don't have it today.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Huh. Didn't know Godzilla had thumbs. They help him pick up the bus and throw it back down.

How can the Twins justify throwing him out there again?Let's not forget that Hughes can barely go 3 innings. We need to never have him pitch in the rotation again. Slegers would be a much better option.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Rather than use Hughes, they are just going to burn through the bullpen? Other than money....Nah man. Just Rogers, Hildenburger, Pressly, Duke, and Reed. So ya. burning up the bullpen
Darius Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 So, we're just going to punt this game and let Rogers throw multiple innings?

Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 My theory on Lynn is that he's pissed he didn't get the multiyear, $80M contract he was looking for. He's even more pissed he ended up signing with a team that offered him a deal that was a "non-starter", and accordingly, he's just going through the motions a bit. It's completely short-sighted of course--have a kickass year, and get that big deal next year, but I just can't understand how a solid pitcher can all of the sudden become so poor, without mental disposition playing a role. As for Morrison at first--UZR/150 has him at 17.3. He's not that good I'm sure, but he was at 0.0 last year in 1000 innings, which suggests he's not bad at first. Mauer is at 8.6, and was at 7.6 last year, for what it's worth.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I just don't understand how Lynn is this bad. He was a solid starting pitcher last year, but now he's totally lost his command, his pitches are far easier to hit, yet he's forcing more strikeouts? I don't get it. I don't buy the "missed Spring Training" excuses.I keep saying this but can you imagine if someone would have paid 4/60 in free agency? Darvish hasn't looked that sharp either.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I keep saying this but can you imagine if someone would have paid 4/60 in free agency? Darvish hasn't looked that sharp either.Starting to be really glad he didn't sign the original 2yr/20mil contract the Twins offered. Then him and Hughes could be burning up 2 bullpen spots next year too
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I gotta say, this Petit guy has played well. Solid defense and he seems to have a penchant for getting on base. Too bad his roster spot is probably gone once Sano returns, whenever that is.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Dozier just trying to crush the ball. Just hit the damn thing.

I'd rather Lynn be pitching well obviously but at least we're not on the hook for another 3 years and $45mil
woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Dozier: hit the ball! Go with the pitch! Don't just try and pull it into the left field bleachers!
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Oh my. HUSTLE. Both players should be pulled.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 What are we saving Phil Hughes for?
mrmpls Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Oh my. HUSTLE. Both players should be pulled. THATS 3 TIMES THIS GAME WITH LOMO EARLIER, SAD!!
Doubles Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Just when I start to think the club is on its way, we see slop like this. Morrison is thrown out by inches after going into 2nd base standing up. Petit fails to tag up on Mauer's ball, an obvious tag-up sitch. Rosario only gains first base after watching his Texas Leaguer land fair down the left field line. Gross. Twins do not deserve to win this game today.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Wonder if Garver can gidp in his next at bat too...To answer this question, no.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 What are we saving Phil Hughes for? an even worse start, apparently

His first couple starts you can chalk up to missing spring training. That's the key. Sign them in the normal signing period, otherwise these pitchers are just playing catch up through April.

So he was about a month behind. What was he doing in that month? Just bumming it around the house and not pitching? Granted, it wouldn't be MLB spring training hitters. And he looked decent once he started pitching in spring training.
