If the unwritten rules were good enough for baseball, they should have been good enough for Moses!
Dantes929 Verified Member Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Happy birthday! All these birthdays. Makes me think people used to have a lot of fun around the 4th of July weekend.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 For the make up game today, we decided to recycle the thread from Apr. 8. What a difference a month makes, both in weather and Twins play. Wade LeBlanc vs Jake Odorizzi, lineups tba.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Wow, I thought we, as fans, got a chance to rest up before we got to dive right into another game. No rest for us. Seriously, though, this is rough for the Twins. No chance to catch a breather and they have to play Seattle.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Writing a game thread more than a month in advance... Impressive!

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Mauer with another day off of 1st. Makes no sense at all. He’s had to have roughly 1 in 4 games off when he is the best defender on the team besides Byron. Also giving Rosario the day off. Makes no sense on the Mauer front. Go twins.

Maybe so he can concentrate on leading off? How often do people play first and bat first?

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Steady, though not terribly hard, rain falling. Postponement of the postponement?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Steady, though not terribly hard, rain falling. Postponement of the postponement? It's supposed to keep raining through the evening. Again, not necessarily hard, but steady.

Go twins.Though only two complete games off out of 36, putting him on pace for 153 games and 684 plate appearances. (I realize that early season “on pace for” numbers are skewed this year because of the number of off days. It will be hard to maintain that pace when games are piling up.)

Go twins.Mauer is certainly far better defensively than Morrison. I wonder if Molitor thinks it benefits Morrision to have him more involved in the game by playing first. There are some players who don't do as well DHing, although one would think that Morrison should be able to do that OK at this point in his career. Just speculating...

But if the offensive gain from Morrison being more involved actually does outweigh the improved defense of Mauer at first base, then shouldn't they use that alignment every game?

Mauerpower Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 So they delayed the game. It’s not supposed to stop raining until around 10pm. Will they play a game 4 hours after it was scheduled to start?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I don't think this is about Morrison.I don’t either. It’s about Molitor. I’ve never been a fan of him as manager and stuff like this just makes it more clear. If it’s Mauer asking for another day, then Molitor needs to say no. If it’s Molitor doing the saying no, can’t have that as manager.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 What are the odds they get this in? I’ll say 20%

bighat Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Darn, what a bust if this is rained out. Especially for Seattle, who just played in Detroit and stopped in Minneapolis last night to get this game in today. Two teams with much-needed off days after long road trips are now at the mercy of the MN weather. And it's crappy. The fact that they've done so much (and spent the extra $$$) to get this game in increases the likelyhood they'll try everything they can to play this game. Might not be enough but this one won't be called unless it's impossible to play.

If he’s not in control of the team and lets his team make his decisions for him, he’s not a good manager.
