Scrawled through 7 pages and there is a name I haven't seen yet.  I understand it.   He split time between being a sub and a starter.   He played hard, could play a lot of positions.    Just your run of the mill player.   No one really ever seemed to have an opinion on him for good or for bad.   Just the kind of guy that goes out there and plays and no one really seems to notice much.   In fact I wonder if anyone on here even remembers him.    Does the name Nick Punto ring a bell for anyone?

I tried typing his name a couple of pages ago, but I didn't dive head first into 1st base yet, and my shirt is too clean for his standards.

I think by the rules you stated at the outset, the thread is over. Sort of a version of Godwin's Law. :)

 

What was your favorite Jaime Garcia moment as a Twin? For me, I think it has to be that time he pitched in a game.

 

But in case we're still continuing, my contribution is Scott Erickson. Oh, that guy. He could come out and give up three runs in the first inning, and then settle down and pitch a complete game win. Or, he would come out with no-no stuff, and then suddenly blow up in the fourth inning. Oh, that guy.

At 23 years old he pitched in the 1977 All Star Game during a season in which he was 20-5 with a 2.34 ERA. He also pitched in the 1979 World Series. Both times representing the Pittsburgh Pirates.  

He didn't pitch for the Twins until he was 36 in 1990.  In 33 relief appearances and one start for Minnesota he was 7-3 with a 3.39 ERA.  On July 27, 1990 he was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Toronto Blue Jays for Nelson Liriano and Pedro Munoz.

How about the 1988 American League Earned Run Average Leader ALLAN ANDERSON?

If I remember correctly he declined to make his last start of the season so he could preserve that title.

TK must have giving him the option of doing that and he took it.

 

Kind of the opposite of Ted Williams in 1941 who was hitting an even .400 entering the final day of the season. Given the option of sitting out a doubleheader on the last day to preserve the .400, Ted  insisted on playing and went 6 for 8 to raise his average to .406
