Once Buxton learns to see the path of the ball better and make direct paths to it (like we saw Cain do against Garver), he will be even more dangerous to opposing teams. Playing shallow, and the circular sprints back was the difference today on catching the Cain drive. Poor guy, now people (like me) expect him to catch everything!

Going into today. Royals had a -13 DRS.  Twins were +19.  And even if we look at UZR, Royals are NOT the best defensive team in AL as Bremer says.

 

Royals are 4th in the AL in UZR, and tied for 9th in DRS,

 

But, you know, fielding percentage.

Varges ok? why is he not hitting for goodrum in 9th ?

Probably wouldn't want a strikeout here where you at least need to advance the runner.

It is these close, one run games, that a playoff team wins. 17-0 is nice, but this team needs to win the one run games. I feel a little something in my throat......

Busenitz finally had the trust.... but couldn't step up. Very tough loss. I am still disappointed Goodrum was given that start today, even if it was a semi start as DH.

Byrnes and Magrane are criticizing Escobar on MLBN for not making it to third on Gordon's error. I don't know that it makes much of a difference because Gimenez can't hit and he wouldn't have tagged up on Adrianza's looper.

I had the same thought, he must not have run hard out of the box.  Failures by subsequent hitters don't excuse that.

 

And...those of you excusing Falvine for not getting any help can thank them for seeing Giminez and Adrianza hitting in the 9th with the tying run on second.

I was stunned Gimenez was hitting, as I thought I heard Castro was activated for this game.

Cain call was horrible, but Twins were gifted a call on Buxton too. Up to them to get a hit.
