I remember just out of college, I was travelling through Europe by train.  Believe it or not, I was not only much younger, but quite handsome and something of a ladies man.  I was still developing my keen sense of humor, but I was already...talented.

Anyway, Me, a Frenchman, a ravishing blonde and an old lady were sharing a compartment on a train as it wound its way through the Alps. Every now and then the train passed through a tunnel, during which time the compartment was plunged into complete darkness. On one such occasion, a loud, ringing slap could be heard and as the train passes back into daylight, the Frenchman was rubbing his sore, red cheek.

The old lady thought to herself, “I bet that dirty Frenchman fondled the blonde and she struck the pervert.”

The blonde thought, “I bet that filthy Frenchman was looking to grope me in the dark, mistook the old lady for me and she slapped him.”

The Frenchman thinks, “I bet that stupid American touched up the blonde in the dark and she slapped me by mistake.”

Me?  I'm thinking, “I can’t wait for another tunnel so I can slap that French ******* again.”

I stopped reading after the part about developing a keen sense of humour.

Who else takes wide turns at third base, on triples?

I noted that Mauer basically hit a ball to the same place and only made it to second.

Yeah, I call BS. The train wasn't invented yet when you were that young.

Uh, Chitown...I said nothing about young.  I said fresh out of college.

You said much younger and quite handsome. I've seen the stone etchings of when you were last called handsome.

I'm still handsome.  Just ask me.

Yeah, well people used to laugh at the idea of me being a comedian.

They're not laughing any more, I tell ya.

First handful of takeaways tonight:

1) This Kyle Gibson lookalike that attacks the zone instead of nibbling, is a refreshing change of pace.

2) I thought Rob's only real value to this team was his ability to "mash" LHP. If he can't swing a bat righthanded, does he really offer much to the team right now?

I remember one night I was sitting in a hotel bar in Texas.  Would you believe it?  In walks Spock and two of his Vulcan buddies.

The bartender was a bit taken aback, but once he recovered he walked right up and asked the first Vulcan, "Ya'll want a drink?"

"I don't know," came the reply.

The tender paused a minute, but decided to press on.  He asked the second Vulcan, "Ya'll want a drink?"

"I don't know," came the reply from the second Vulcan.

The bartender was a bit irritated at this point, but decided to play nice.  He turned to Spock, "Ya'll want a drink?"

"Yes."

I don't get the Grossman hate. He still has a .350 OBP versus RHP. Not great, but it's not too bad in a start here or there. The team does need people on base after all.

For me it's the .621 OPS in the second half.

And the fact that he goes up there with seemingly no intention to do anything but walk.
