Game Thread: Twins vs Diamnondbacks: 1:10pm cdt 8:20:2017

[yarnivek1972]

Watching this series, it is difficult to believe that Arizona is (was) the third best team in the NL.

[Squirrel]

Trying to not get the MLB strikeout record?

Like the one Aaron Judge reached today?

[jimmer]

Judge also leads the league in walks, runs, HR.

[Puckett34]

Position player pitching time!

[GCTF]

Dbacks using a position player to pitch, Perkins warming up for the Twins. Not sure who has the edge here.

the hitters?

[GCTF]

the hitters?

Not the Twins hitters it seems.

[yarnivek1972]

Wonder how long of a leash Perkins will have.

[yarnivek1972]

I will say that Perkins will face a maximum of 7 hitters. If he hasn't gotten 3 outs by then, he has to come out. Earlier if there are no outs.

[yarnivek1972]

It's okay. We have a guy out there.

[NorthwestTwinsFan]

Perkins should not have been activated while the Twins are in the playoff race.  He is a complete waste of a roster spot.

[yarnivek1972]

Right about now, someone should be getting up in the pen.

[Puckett34]

Winner!! Sweep!!

[h2oface]

I hope Grossman was watching Rosario play outfield with Buxton!

[GCTF]

Thank Perkins for his time, pat him on the back for the work he put in to get to this point and move on.

So sorry, to confuse you. No, not that one. Not the strikeouts in consecutive games in a season record, of which pitcher Vida Blue is third on the list.... no not that one. The total strikeouts in a season record, of which Sano was well in the lead. But then, you knew that I am sure.....

Twins are poised to make the playoffs with a position player having pitched in 6 different games.

Gimenez says "Garvey who?"

So do I.

[ashbury]

If he could he'd never leave home.

[USAFChief]

suh-weep!

1 person.

1 person got that.

I am disappoint.

[ashbury]

And I was bored reading that a second time. Jokes aren't funny when you already know the punch line.

But that's the very essence of a Chiefjoke^TM

[ashbury]

Based on nothing more than the score of this game at this time, I think they'll be fine.

Sound.

Niko Goodrum is having a fine season at 25 in AAA but he's only putting up a .750 OPS. In AAA. He profiles as the utility man of the future but the Twins aren't hurting there. Adrianza's got a .710 OPS in the majors this year and is a much better fielder. No way I'm dumping Adrianza for him.

Offseason might be a different question. It's not sexy but the Twins will have interesting choices with Escobar and Adrianza (and of course this will be directly tied into Dozier).

You're right, you're right. It's just...it's getting close to football season, and I just want the Twins to put their best 11 men out on the field.

[sampleSizeOfOne]

I am sorry i kinda checked out after i discovered we scored 9 in the first....

And i decided i could at least check the states of other teams... Oh right. Minnesota is their state.

Vikings lost a mostly meaningless preseason game.

Lynx lost, but still have the best wnba record. They are pretty good, eh?

Minnesota United lost, and at the bottom of their conference.

And... rumor has it tomorrow there is a double header. Which means Riverbrian can call up another Joe M. to participate in the conversation... Odds are it isn't Joe Mama.
