Colon has been good for his first 50 or 60 pitches in all of his starts, I wish that the Twins could persuade him to stay on as a long reliever,

If they pulled him after 3, that would be learning.

It seems like it, but going into today, Eddie had 19 walks on the year.

21 walks now.  His OPS by month:

April .660

May .810

June .860

July .885

I sure like the trend.

Dick mentioned that this was a quality start for Colon. What would happen if Colon faced one batter in the 7th and gave up a home run? He completed 6 innings and allowed 3 runs but the box score would show 6 innings pitched with 4 runs given up. Is it still a quality start? BTW, 15 years ago calling it a quality start was probably OK. These days I'd use the term satisfactory start.

One cannot give up more than three earned runs in a quality start, it doesn't matter how many innings you pitch... Which is one of the flaws of the QS stat. A guy could theoretically go 9 IP with 4 ER and not get a QS, despite pitching a better game than a 6 IP, 3 ER "Quality Start".

Putting Rogers in here after his last few performances seems like a big mistake.

We need more runs.

Kitchen closed after the 5th inning.  Didn't you get the memo for this road trip?

Looks like there's a good chance we'll be seeing Kintzler's last appearance for the Twins today.

Maybe it'll be Rogers's too.
